Shocking and infuriating to read the experiences of the author of this piece, who having been sexually assaulted on a Thameslink train whilst pregnant, reported with a witness and had her case ruled “not guilty”.

In the summing up the magistrate explained how a guilty verdict would have a huge impact on the man’s life, and that as she was pregnant she was ‘in a heightened emotional state and could not be relied on to give an accurate account’.

What hope do we have to rallying men to becoming active bystanders to tackling male violence against women if male judges who preside over these cases are openly misogynistic in their rulings?!
