PTSD & FINDING PURPOSE
After living in environments where every decision carried real consequences, coming home can create an unexpected struggle: finding purpose when life no longer feels urgent. The adrenaline fades, the mission changes, and ordinary life can feel empty by comparison.
PTSD isn't simply about what happened overseas or on the job, it can also involve learning how to live when the danger is gone. Purpose has to be rebuilt, not replaced. Family, relationships, service, fitness, meaningful work, and helping others can become new missions. You don't need death on the line to live with purpose. Sometimes the hardest mission is learning how to live again.

PROGRAMMING -
Before you build a complicated program, get the basics right.
Vernon breaks down the foundational pillars he believes every good training program should follow.
Build the foundation first. Keep it simple. Have intent behind the work.
Everything you do should have a purpose. Train with intent, stay consistent, and let the basics build the foundation for everything else.

HINDSIGHT -
It’s easy to look back and think about the things you should’ve, could’ve, or would’ve done differently.
DJ and Joey reminisce on past deployments and experiences, and like most of us, hindsight makes everything look a little clearer.
But you don’t know what you don’t know.
The trick is not to keep replaying the mistake. Take the lesson, accept what you can’t change, and put your energy into what you can control now.
Every experience, good or bad, gave you something to carry forward. Don’t let the lesson become a weight.
Learn from the past. Stay present. Make the next decision better.

The perfect pairing for @eotechinc holographic optics:
@gbrsgroup's Lerna is the first stand-alone optic mount designed for end-users that offers a 2.91” Optic Centerline for faster target ID, regardless of gear/equipment obstructions, ie. EarPro/Comms headsets, Gas masks/CBRN, and Night vision use. A higher Optic allows for a more athletic posture and “Heads up” attitude that enables the end-users to maintain a vertical spine which translates to body armor or “presenting plates” to the threat. This “Heads up” style allows for faster processing speed and increased situational awareness.

While competition isn't a substitute for tactical training, there are valuable lessons that can translate when applied with the right context. The same is true in reverse, tactical experience brings a mindset and discipline that competition alone can't teach.
Keep an open mind, stay a student, and take the best from both worlds. Growth happens when you're willing to learn beyond your comfort zone.
"When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before."
Being a professional isn't just about reaching the end zone, it's about how you carry yourself when you get there. The best performers don't chase attention or celebrate every accomplishment as if it's their first.
MAKE IT YOURS
What works for someone else might not work for you. The best setup is the one that fits the way you work. Keep what helps, ditch what doesn't, and don't be afraid to move things around until it feels right.
How do you have your helmet set up? What's one accessory or change you've made that you'll never go without?

JASON BOURNE
The idea of a real-life Jason Bourne is Hollywood fiction.
Tier 1 operators aren't masters of everything. They become exceptional through years of focused training, repetition, and experience. The highest performers understand that true expertise comes from mastering one skill at a time before moving to the next.
There are no shortcuts, secret programs, or overnight transformations. Every capability is built through discipline, deliberate practice, and thousands of repetitions under pressure. The professionals who make it look effortless do so because they've invested countless hours refining the fundamentals. Master the basics first.
Excellence isn't magic, it's consistency over time.

A hungry dog will always go much further than one that is always well fed. The people who achieve the most aren't always the most talented, they're often the ones who wanted it bad enough to keep pushing long after everyone else stopped. #GBRS#gbrsgroup
