๐ Bringing Community Voices to the Global Biodiversity Conversation
@bridge_thatgap is proud to share that our Executive Director, @GBulus attended the 28th Meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-28) under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), held in Nairobi, Kenya from 27 July to 1 August 2026.
Her participation was in recognition of her valuable contributions to biodiversity policy engagement in Nigeria and the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
Prior to SBSTTA-28, she served as a panelist at the WWF-convened Dialogue on GBF Implementation held on 26 July 2026, where she joined members of the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), government representatives, African civil society organizations, development partners, and biodiversity experts to explore pathways for accelerating implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) across the continent.
Drawing from BTGโs grassroots experience, she emphasized that Africa's biodiversity commitments will only deliver lasting impact when local communities, particularly women, youth, and indigenous peoples are recognized as central partners in implementation, monitoring, and decision-making, ensuring that global commitments translate into meaningful local action.
She highlighted the need to strengthen women's leadership, support community-led conservation, invest in sustainable livelihoods, recognize indigenous knowledge, improve access to grassroots financing, and ensure that biodiversity data reflects the realities of the people protecting nature every day.
At Bridge That Gap Initiative, our experience continues to demonstrate that when communities are empowered, women are included, and local knowledge informs policy, biodiversity conservation becomes more sustainable, equitable, and impactful.
As Africa advances the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework, we remain committed to bridging the gap between global biodiversity commitments and community-led action, ensuring that nature conservation delivers lasting benefits for people, the planet, and future generations.
๐ฟ Global commitments succeed when local communities lead.

๐ The diagnosis is in: Heat stroke.
Our planet is overheating and weโre still feeding the fire.
Every ton of fossil fuels we burn adds more COโ to the atmosphere, trapping heat and pushing global temperatures higher. The warning signs are everywhere: record-breaking heat waves, wildfires, floods, and melting ice.
This isnโt abstract. Itโs happening now.
If Earth had a voice, it would be asking us to stop making it worse.
Itโs time to move toward cleaner energy, smarter choices, and real climate action. The cure starts with us.

๐Menโs Mental Health Month: A Little Gesture, A Big Message.
At Bridge That Gap Initiative, we believe mental health matters for everyone, including men.
Support doesn't always come in grand gestures. Sometimes, it's a simple check-in, a kind word, a listening ear, a hug, a smile, or just being present. These small acts can make a world of difference to someone who may be struggling silently.
This Men's Mental Health Month, let's create spaces where men feel seen, heard, and supported.
Let's encourage conversations, break the stigma, and remind every man that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is an act of courage and strength.
To every man: take a moment to check in on yourself. Reach out to a friend. Speak up when you need support. You don't have to carry it all alone.๐ฅ

@bridge_thatgap participated in the One-Day Validation Workshop on the Kaduna State HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan (2025โ2027), convened by the Kaduna State Agency Committee on AIDS (KADSACA.
The workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to review and validate the State's Strategic Plan, ensuring it reflects current HIV response priorities, addresses emerging needs, and aligns with the goal of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
Beyond validating the document, the engagement encouraged collaboration, stakeholder ownership, and collective commitment to the successful implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Strategic Plan, including its narrative and costed components.
At Bridge That Gap Initiative, we remain committed to supporting inclusive health policies, strengthening partnerships, and contributing to sustainable interventions that improve the health and well-being of communities in Nigeria.

What a month June was! ๐โจ
If we had to describe June in one word, it would be AMAZING!
From connecting with nature to celebrating our team, promoting wellness, and creating lasting memories, every week came with something worth celebrating.
๐ฟ We kicked off the month with our World Environment Day Hike, where every step reminded us why protecting our environment matters. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, participants enjoyed an experience many described as not just inspiring, but truly therapeutic. It was the perfect reminder that nature heals, inspires, and calls us to do more for our planet.
๐ Then came Men's Mental Health Month, and we chose to celebrate differently. Because at Bridge That Gap Initiative, we believe men deserve to be appreciated too! Our amazing men were surprised with thoughtful gifts that brought genuine smiles and reinforced an important messageโyou are seen, valued, and appreciated.
๐ The celebration didn't stop there. We welcomed a team of medical professionals who conducted vital health screenings for every staff member, ensuring everyone knew their health status. After receiving a clean bill of health, we wrapped up the day with an energetic aerobics session that got everyone moving, laughing, and bonding. It was the perfect blend of wellness, teamwork, and fun!
๐ To top it all off, we celebrated our incredible Admin Officer's birthday, an afternoon filled with delicious food, laughter, heartfelt wishes, and unforgettable moments shared as one family.
June reminded us that making an impact goes beyond the communities we serve; it also means caring for our environment, investing in our well-being, celebrating one another, and building a workplace where people truly thrive.
Here's to more moments of impact, growth, and joy in the months ahead! ๐

Today is Fatherโs Day, and I miss you more than words can say, Daddy. I still celebrate you with love and gratitude, so thankful that I was blessed to have you as my father. Through you, I learned the true meaning of love and how to care deeply, give generously, and show up for others with kindness and strength.
You taught me not only how to give, but how to cherish the company of good people and learn from them. Your example continues to guide me every day. I carry your lessons in my heart, and I honor you in the way I live and love. ๐
๐ฟ As long as nature isnโt thriving, neither are we.๐
Our lives depend on clean air, fresh water, healthy soil, and a stable climate. When forests are destroyed, oceans polluted, and the climate disrupted, itโs not just the planet that suffers โ we do too.
Food shortages, stronger natural disasters, rising diseases, and economic struggles are all signs that when nature hurts, humanity hurts.
We are not separate from the Earth we are part of it. ๐ฑ When the planet flourishes, we flourish. When we exploit it, we undermine our own future.
Caring for nature isnโt optional. Itโs essential. ๐

๐ The Cry of the Poor and the Cry of the Earth ๐ฑ
The suffering of people and the suffering of our planet are deeply connected. When forests are destroyed, oceans polluted, and the climate disrupted, it is often the poorest communities who feel the impact first through floods, droughts, hunger, and displacement.
The Earth is crying out from the damage we cause, and the poor are crying out from injustice and neglect. These are not two separate crises, but one shared call to action.
Caring for the planet means caring for people. Protecting the environment means protecting human dignity. ๐๐ค
Letโs listen, act responsibly, and build a future where both the Earth and all its people can thrive. #CareForCreation #ClimateJustice #CryOfThePoor #CryOfTheEarth

Across Nigeria, children continue to face armed attacks, abductions, and assaults on schools. Behind every statistic is a child whose right to safety, education, and a future has been stolen.
From the Chibok and Dapchi tragedies to the recent wave of school attacks, the urgency is undeniable: protecting children is a national emergency. Trauma, displacement, and interrupted education are robbing an entire generation of hope.
Let us be reminded that every child deserves safety, every child deserves a future. Let us speak for the safety of children, raise our voices against violence, and demand accountability.
Together, we can protect children, safeguard education, and build a safer Nigeria.

BTG proudly commemorated the International Day of the Boy Child in the office after the boys raised a thoughtful protest on Monday, pointing out that we often celebrate only the International Day of the Girl Child.
Today, we celebrate and appreciate our boys as well.
To all the boys on the team โ Happy International Day of the Boy Child! ๐
