🕊️International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression
Today, we stand in solidarity with millions of children around the world whose lives have been disrupted by violence, conflict, abduction, exploitation, and insecurity.
In Nigeria, children continue to bear the devastating consequences of armed conflict, attacks on schools, recruitment by armed groups, displacement, and denial of access to education and essential services.
Every child affected is a reminder that protecting children is not just a moral responsibility—it is an urgent national priority.
At @bridge_thatgap, we believe that every child deserves to grow up in safety, dignity, and peace. As we commemorate this day, we call on government institutions, security agencies, communities, humanitarian actors, and development partners to strengthen efforts to prevent violence against children, protect schools and learning spaces, and uphold the rights of every child.
Protecting every Nigerian child is an emergency that demands immediate action.
Together, let us build a future where no child lives in fear and every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.

@bridge_thatgap as a member of the Network of Civil Societies in Environment @NCSEnvironment participated in a one day women-focused training organized yesterday, June 2nd by the Centre for Water, Environment and Development (CWED)-on Regenerative and Conservation Agriculture. 🌱🌾
The training aimed to equip women with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to transition from subsistence farming to profitable, climate-resilient agribusinesses.
As climate change continues to impact food systems and livelihoods, empowering women farmers with sustainable agricultural practices is critical to strengthening food security, improving incomes, and building resilient communities.
When women farmers have access to the right knowledge, tools, and resources, they become powerful agents of change. Investing in climate-smart agriculture not only improves livelihoods but also strengthens food security, environmental sustainability, and community resilience in the face of a changing climate.

From one school in 2022 to a growing community across Kaduna State 🌱📚
With the training manuals provided by the @ncfnigeria, @bridge_thatgap is scaling up the Green Savers Club in 2026, targeting 10 schools, with one aim- RAISING A NEW GENERATION OF CLIMATE-CONSCIOUS LEADERS.
So far, 4 clubs have been established across Kaduna North and Chikun LGAs, creating safe spaces for students to learn, engage, and take action on climate and environmental issues.
Through the Climate Change Children and Youth Action Manual, we are promoting climate education, environmental awareness, and youth-led action for a greener and more sustainable future.
The future of climate action begins in our schools — and these young Green Savers are already leading the way. 💚🌍

❌ There are no natural disasters.
💡Disasters are not a 'natural' part of life.
Natural hazards such as earthquakes and tsunamis may be impossible to stop, but the loss of life and economic damage they inflict are usually the result of human decisions.

🔥Wildfires are not stand-alone events: they are risk multipliers ⚠️
In 2025, wildfires caused the highest insured losses. Yet the largest impacts extended well beyond burned homes and insurance claims.

On this World Biodiversity Day 2026, Bridge That Gap Initiative celebrates the power of local action in creating global environmental impact. 🌍🌱
Through the Women Empowerment and Climate Resilience Initiative (WECRI), implemented with support from @PACE_Nigeria, a UK Government-funded programme in Nigeria, we are empowering women across Chikun, Zaria, and Zangon Kataf LGAs with energy-efficient cookstoves that improve livelihoods while protecting the environment.
This initiative goes beyond clean cooking. It is about reducing pressure on forests, protecting biodiversity, improving family health, saving time for women, and strengthening climate resilience within communities. By promoting clean energy solutions, women are becoming champions of environmental sustainability and community development.
Every efficient cookstove distributed represents cleaner air, fewer trees cut down, reduced carbon emissions, and stronger economic opportunities for women and families.
At @bridge_thatgap, we believe that when women thrive, communities prosper and nature is protected. Together, we are proving that acting locally can truly create global impact. 💚

WORLD BIODIVERSITY DAY 2026 STATEMENT
Theme: “Acting Locally, Creating Global Impact”.
Today, as the global community commemorates World Biodiversity Day, I join millions of people around the world in celebrating the rich diversity of life that sustains our planet and our communities. Biodiversity is not merely about plants, animals, and ecosystems; it is the foundation of our food systems, our health, our culture, our livelihoods, and our collective future.
This year's theme, “Acting Locally, Creating Global Impact,” reminds us that while biodiversity loss is a global challenge, the solutions begin in our homes, our communities, and our local institutions. Every tree planted, every forest protected, every river restored, and every sustainable farming practice adopted contributes to the global effort to safeguard nature for present and future generations.
As a Climate activist/advocate, I have witnessed firsthand the growing impacts of climate change, land degradation, deforestation, and unsustainable resource use on our communities. These challenges threaten not only our environment but also the wellbeing and resilience of our people. Protecting biodiversity is therefore not an option—it is a necessity for sustainable development, climate resilience, food security, and poverty reduction.
I call upon traditional institutions, government agencies, civil society organizations, women, youth, farmers, and community leaders to strengthen collective action toward environmental stewardship. We must revive indigenous conservation practices, promote sustainable land management, protect our forests and wetlands, and empower local communities to become champions of biodiversity conservation.
Young people, in particular, have a critical role to play. Through innovation, advocacy, education, and community engagement, they can lead transformative actions that inspire lasting change. Let us invest in their potential and support their efforts to build a greener and more sustainable future.
As we mark this important day, let us remember that every species matters, every ecosystem counts, and every action makes a difference. Together, we can bridge the gap between global commitments and local action, ensuring that our natural heritage is preserved for generations to come.
Let us act today, so that nature can continue to thrive tomorrow.
Happy World Biodiversity Day.

BTG proudly commemorated the International Day of the Boy Child in the office after the boys raised a thoughtful protest on Monday, pointing out that we often celebrate only the International Day of the Girl Child.
Today, we celebrate and appreciate our boys as well.
To all the boys on the team — Happy International Day of the Boy Child! 👏
@bridge_thatgap
🎉Bridge That Gap Initiative celebrates the 2026 International Day of the Boy Child under the theme “Flourish and Thrive: Investing in Boys for Stronger Families and Communities.”
Today, we chose to celebrate the BTG boys (to men) who are thriving, always giving, sharing knowledge, building skills, investing, and creating lasting impact in the work they do, and in the lives of every boy child they encounter.
At BTG, we believe empowering the boy child today means building stronger families, resilient communities, and a more sustainable future for all.
We acknowledge that the future thrives when boys are equipped to lead, grow, and inspire positive change. 💙
We also know that Men (Boys) Need Cake too. 🎂
