Ramaphosa to host Ruto in three-day visit focused on business and regional cooperation
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to host President William Ruto next week for a three-day State Visit that is expected to strengthen relations between Kenya and South Africa.
The visit, scheduled from June 3 to June 5, 2026, comes as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, diplomacy, and regional development.
According to a statement from the South African Presidency, President Ruto will travel to South Africa at the invitation of President Ramaphosa.
The visit reflects the importance both nations place on their long-standing relationship and their shared role in promoting economic growth and stability across the African continent.
The main activities of the visit will take place on June 4, when President Ruto will receive a formal welcome at the Union Buildings in Tshwane.
He will then hold bilateral talks with President Ramaphosa, where the two leaders are expected to discuss ways of expanding cooperation in key sectors while also addressing regional and continental priorities.
South Africa has described Kenya as a strategic partner in East Africa and across the continent.
The two countries have maintained strong relations since diplomatic ties were re-established in 1994 following South Africa’s transition to democracy.
Over the years, both nations have worked together on various political, economic, and development initiatives.
A major outcome of the visit is expected to be the signing of several Memoranda of Agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two governments. Following the signing ceremony, the two presidents will address the media and provide updates on the discussions and agreements reached.
Later that day, the leaders will attend the South Africa-Kenya Business Forum at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg. The forum will bring together business leaders, investors, and other stakeholders from both countries.
Discussions at the forum will focus on increasing trade, encouraging investment, and creating new business partnerships.
Participants will also explore opportunities in strategic sectors that could help boost economic cooperation and support growth in both Kenya and South Africa.
