I discovered that I can post about an EV with 315,000 miles and be told it’s run on coal its entire life, that EVs are dirtier than ICE cars and renewables are bad for the planet.

@drvolts Heat pumps are less efficient in colder weather. It is not 1 unit in, one unit out. There is a temp crossover where the added cost from the heat pump catching up will outweigh the cost savings from peak shaving.

@alojoh It is a battery production issue. They had projected packaging 60 batteries per hour but were only able to package 3. Saying they fixed the issue, but we will see.

@bslotterback I used to heat my house with a corn burning stove. It took over 3 tons of corn per year. The solar panels on my roof produce enough electricity to heat and cool my home and power my EV through 24000mi/year

@EarthSci_Info @ZSchmois @leahstokes Columbia gas is motivating people to move to get off gas in Ohio. Paying $700/year for the privilege of having gas hook up. I am anxiously awaiting the switch to R32 refrigerant so I can jump on the heat pump bandwagon without worrying about backup heat.

@Kevoster9 @SawyerMerritt 6th gen CRV has been in market for 1 year. It will be at least 2 years before a minor model (with BEV option?) Honda Prologue is almost exactly a Passport. Expect starting price to be $41k after tax credit. Guessing the EV CRV starts at $32k (after credit) when it launches.

@janrosenow Industry standard will be switching from R-410A to R-32 in 3-4 years for split systems. Improved efficiency will be similar to when industry switched from R-22 to R-410A. I would expect operating costs to be 35-45% lower than current new systems

@Crypto13333 @ARightConnect @KobeissiLetter Regulation kills nuclear in the US. The high cost of investment, lead time, and maintenance costs are big deterrents. I think geothermal has a new life once millimeter wave drilling eclipses 8k below the surface. Essentially no maintenance costs. Only need 3 months to drill

@Crypto13333 @ARightConnect @KobeissiLetter Chemistry of the Floride-ion has one advantage -energy density. Sodium-ion is gaining here, but also is more stable, materials are plentiful/ cheap, and has potential for better longevity. EVs in China rolling out Sodium-ion in December
