Train 16605 Ernad Exp delayed by 50 minutes on 11-2-25 . Why is this a regular routine for Rlys?Where is the problem happening?
It would help if there is a direct train to Nilambur from Kannur as otherwise we miss the connecting train to Nilambur @AshwiniVaishnaw@RailwaySeva
The petition before me specifically raises serious allegations concerning Gyanesh Kumar’s tenure as PWD Secretary, including the KSTP matter and the circumstances surrounding project engineer Lee See Been’s death.
These allegations must be examined on their merits. I have therefore referred the matter to the Vigilance Director for appropriate inquiry and action under law.
Political differences are separate. This inquiry must be decided by facts and evidence.
The right to vote is not a privilege bestowed by the State. It belongs to every Indian citizen, and the integrity of that right is fundamental to our democracy. That is why the concerns being raised across the country over the SIR, electoral roll deletions and the functioning of the Election Commission deserve to be heard. And answered.
Thousands have taken to the streets, among them students, young people and concerned citizens, asking legitimate questions about the integrity of our electoral process. Yesterday, in Delhi alone, close to a thousand people were detained as they sought to gather and make their voices heard. Roads were barricaded, Metro stations were closed, telecom and internet services were disrupted and a heavy security presence was deployed across central Delhi. The very infrastructure of the capital was subjected to extraordinary disruption in an effort to contain a democratic protest, yet people still came out to make themselves heard.
These concerns are not merely about electoral rolls, forms or administrative procedures. They go to the heart of our democracy: whether every Indian entitled to vote can exercise that right without fear of being excluded by an opaque or inadequately explained process; whether citizens can have confidence that their names will remain on the rolls; and whether the institutions entrusted with our elections will command the public trust on which electoral democracy ultimately depends. That trust cannot be demanded; it must be earned, sustained and protected.
When citizens raise questions about something as fundamental as their right to vote, the answer cannot be to silence the question. It must be to answer it.

We have received a formal petition alleging irregularities during the tenure of the then PWD Secretary, Gyanesh Kumar, in 2006, the current CEC, including matters connected with the Kerala State Transport Project and the death of the project engineer.
I have forwarded the petition to the Vigilance Director for a detailed examination and further action in accordance with law.
The allegation that external influence derailed the earlier preliminary inquiry is serious. It will be inquired into.
The investigation will follow the evidence.
No one will be prejudged.
Justice must be done through due process.
Public accountability does not expire with time.
Phase II of #OperationToofan brings police enforcement and people’s participation together at the community level.
Ward-level Toofan Committees will bring local governments, citizens and community networks into prevention and early intervention.
Toofan Eyes, Toofan Play and other initiatives will strengthen protection and youth engagement, while treatment and rehabilitation support is being expanded with the IMA and 35 hospitals across Kerala.
Enforcement remains firm. But a lasting response to drugs also requires prevention, participation and recovery.
Break the network. Prevent drug use. Help people recover.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has raised concerns over Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the functioning of the Election Commission. Tharoor has questioned aspects of the electoral process, including voter rights, electoral forms and the use of Election Commission software, while expressing concerns about the state of Indian democracy.

The Election Commission has nothing to do with the government. Election Commissioners should not be going to the Cabinet Secretary. But they have already done so, which suggests that the Commissioners who went there believe that the decisions are being made from the Cabinet Secretary’s office or the Prime Minister’s Office. This is an alarming situation, said @parakala , an economist and author, to Rishita Khanna.

🚨IMPORTANT NEWS🚨
Since Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is in the news, I have some very important but sad news to share about a Supreme Court judge.
Supreme Court judge Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. Just two months away from retirement.
If you remember, the Allahabad High Court had imposed a penalty on Medha Roopam, the DM of Noida and daughter of Gyanesh Kumar with a fine of five lakh rupees for irrationally issuing NSA order against a student Activist for Noida labour protest.
That order was challenged before the Supreme Court of India. Live Law, the news portal, reported that Gyanesh’s daughter’s case was listed before Justice Satish Chandra Sharma out of turn and in violation of the Supreme Court roster and rules and convention. The challenge ought to have gone before Justice Nagarathna’s bench, known to be an independent upright judge.
Two days back, when the matter was listed for hearing, Justice Sharma‘s bench switched off the audio of the Supreme Court proceeding, which is highly unusual and almost never done. ALARMING. There was no explanation from the judge’s side as to why this extraordinary favour was done for Gyanesh’s daughter.
In any case the fine and the adverse remarks of the Allahabad High Court were stayed by Justice Sharma immediately.
Same day, in another case related to Gyanesh Kumar—the constitutional challenge that was filed against the 2023 law on election commissioners of India was finally decided by a two judge bench of which Justice Sharma was a part of.
Under challenge was the appointments procedure where the leader of opposition today holds only an ornamental seat in the Three-member selection committee that selects Election commissioner of India. The other two are PM and his Cabinet Minister. Justice Sharma dissented which led to a split verdict and the case has now been sent before the Chief Justice of India for constituting a larger bench. This has delayed the case by years probably. This split verdict itself came after three years. This is how the Supreme Court refuses to hear most important cases that affect our lives and the country.
A separate blanket immunity granted to past and present election commissioners of India by Modi’s government is also pending for last 9 months before CJI Surya Kant. Today, the Chief Election Commissioner has been exposed for gross illegalities and for stealing votes and elections at the behest of powers that be. Any sane, sorted, neutral, just person can see that the selection process of ECIs is not independent and tilted in govt’s favour. But not Justice Sharma.
And here’s the big news: his son holds not one, not two, but four big, plum government counsel panels, including income, tax department, GST, customs, and excise, and a Madhya Pradesh government lawyer panel. I need not explain the great perks and influence that come along when you hold such plum government panels. Read my Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma report where I exposed the same thing.
I am withholding the name of the son for now.
The important question is: how can a judge be expected to do impartial and fair Justice in politically sensitive cases if his family members serve at the pleasure of the government? The judge is also retiring two months later, and several lawyers have informed me that there are vacancies in NCLAT and other search plum tribunals.
I’M SORRY TO SAY such a system of judiciary does not inspire confidence in its ability to do impartial justice. There is a reason why the ethics code for judges require them to maintain a sense of aloofness and not do anything which can harm the their image and that of the judiciary.
Both in Justice Swarna Kanta’s case and several other judges case, including that of the Supreme Court, it is TRAGIC to notice the complete capture of the institution of the Indian judiciary. Can the judiciary go on like this?
We pay homage to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. A distinguished economist and statesman, his humility, integrity and commitment to public service defined his remarkable journey.
His contributions to India’s economic progress and development will always be remembered.
On Dr Manmohan Singh’s birth anniversary, I remember a man whose quiet presence changed India in ways far louder than his manner ever was. Few combined scholarship with statecraft so naturally, or carried such responsibility with so little vanity. I was privileged to witness his understated wit at close quarters. With time, the scale of his contribution only becomes clearer. Remembering him with affection and gratitude.
History will debate governments and policies, as it should. But Dr Singh’s seriousness of purpose, intellectual rigour and essential decency deserve remembrance beyond the arguments of the day.
Remembering him with affection and gratitude on his birth anniversary.
Gyanesh Chor Kumar is a rogue agent who acted without consent of other 2 ECs. Disenfranchising genuine voters is not official duties. He cannot enjoy immunity. He needs to be prosecuted. Simple
I keep hearing that a nationwide SIR has been put in place to remove illegal Bangladeshis from the electoral rolls. OK! Now can @ECISVEEP please tell us how many illegal Bangladeshis have been found across India in SIR exercise? No answer. How many deported under Foreigners Act. No answer! Still waiting. (net net: please clean up rolls but do it with transparency and not at the cost of eligible citizens)🙏
This is extremely serious and involves depriving Indian citizens of their constitutional rights, as well as withholding essential humanitarian benefits, from dialysis treatments to transplants. Political chicanery is bad enough, but inhumane conduct is unconscionable. @ECISVEEP owes an apology to the affected citizens and indeed to the nation. Resignation is a minimal demand; rescinding this disastrous software and undoing the harm it has caused is now indispensable.
One of the highlights of my #Chettinad visit was a tour of the Pettagam jewellery museum, conducted by a remarkable family of gemologists, Ganesh, Meena and Aditi Suppiah. It was simultaneously an education in the history of the Chettiar community as well as a crash-course in their extraordinary trading skills and jewellery traditions. Must visit if you are anywhere near Karaikudi!
Exposing 13 crore silent deletions and centralised software overrides.
This isn't just journalism; it's a reality check for the whole institution.

My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress analyses the institutional, practical, algorithmic and logical failures of the #SIR exercise and demands that it be immediately rethought or abandoned. Indian democracy cannot afford this walking catastrophe.
The world is a place of interdependence without trust.
I was at the UN when Secretary General Boutros Ghali declared in 1992 that he wanted Security Council reform done and dusted by the 50th anniversary of the organization. It's golden jubilee in 1995. Well, since then the 60th anniversary has gone by, the 70th has gone by, the 80th has gone by and we are no closer to security council reform.
The security council still reflects the geopolitical realities of 1945, the end of the Second World War, when the victors converted their wartime alliance into a peacetime organization.
Such countries say that if our voice is not heard, your organs are no longer representative enough of the world as it is and as a result the decisions you take are no longer as legitimate as they should be.
You need to find a reform formula that is not only acceptable to two-thirds of the countries of the world but that is not unacceptable to the five powers whose very authority and influence you are trying to dilute.
If we cannot find more room at the high table then redesign the table.
We do not want to see the world rising from the ashes of another major human catastrophe just in order to find the statesmanlike vision again to create the United Nations.-@ShashiTharoor@AlArabiya_Eng@MindyNucifora@TharoorOffice #UN #Reform #UNGA #UNSC @UN@UN_PGA@UNinIndia@UN_Women@UN_Spokesperson https://t.co/tZ8kDwnquX
VIDEO | Nadia, West Bengal: On MP Sudip Banerjee seeking four more weeks to reply to the Lok Sabha Speaker, TMC MP Mahua Moitra says, "Ask yourself how much time you have, that you keep asking for more time. You were going to join the NDA, but it is already September 22. So why are you asking for more time? If someone asks me, I will say in one second that I am with the Trinamool Congress."
