Rd of 16, World Cup 2026. It was a sea of yellow at BC Place stadium; and after 120 minutes, it was still 0-0. In the penalty shootout, Swiss goalie Gregor Kobel was the hero as he made an exceptional save off Cucho Hernández of Colombia. Switzerland defeats Colombia 4-3.

June 24, 2026. World Cup game in Vancouver. Switzerland 2 - Canada 1. Outstanding performance by Swiss winger Johan Manzambi; and “best goal of the tourney so far?” by Cdn Promise David (24 yrs). His goal started with an elite first touch by Cdn Nathan Saliba (22 yrs).

Enjoyed Thomas Muller’s first game as a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps this past Sunday in front of 26,031 fans at BC Place Stadium. He scored … but it did not count due to an offside. On a side note, impressed with Caps’ Canadian young speedy winger Jayden Nelson.

Múlagljúfur Canyon in South Iceland, near the glacier lagoons, is a hidden gem of Iceland. It is about a 2.5 to 3,0 km hike up from the parking lot. On the day these photos were taken (June 20, 2025), the weather was great. A perfect day for a hike!

Hverfjall Crater in North Iceland (1,300 ft high). This volcano erupted in 2500 BC. The crater is approx 1km in diameter. It is a 20 minute hike up to the top.

Akureyri (pronounced: aa kr ay ree), a city in northern Iceland. Photos include the 1940 Akureyri Church; Bautinn restaurant, operating since 1974; & Bautinn’s famous sandwich - grilled beef brisket on focaccia bread with fried mushrooms and onions with bernaise sauce and fries.
