This is a shockingly virulent screed against the United States, published in Canada’s self-proclaimed leading national newspaper, written by two elite academics. Unhinged anti-Americanism is a seriously toxic, destructive force in Canada that needs to face more resistance.
The Prime Minister’s video is another illusion.
He says he wants a permanent rupture with our biggest customer while he keeps 90% of his personal investments in the U.S.
He has doubled the deficit, negotiated no new free trade deals with any other country, approved no pipelines, and given Canada the worst food inflation, the worst household debt, the worst housing costs, and the only shrinking economy in the G7.
Fear is not a plan. We must reverse Liberal taxes, deficits, and anti-resource laws so we can be affordable, safe, and strong at home.
Carney says the US is now a "weakness," but:
-91.6% of Carney’s investments are in US companies.
-He studied at Harvard (Only Canadian PM without a Canadian degree).
-Half his kids currently reside in the US.
It's pretty obvious at this point that the Carney plan is to try to keep this country in a perpetual state of hate and fear towards the US and use this to keep himself popular. His video today, with its long and gratuitous evocation of the 1812 war, makes this clearer than ever.
I’m tired of this take. Layton ran in four federal elections and lost every one by wide margins. People aren’t “destined” to become PM if they keep running forever. This like saying Andrew Scheer was destined to become PM.
Finished the entire 2.5 hours of Pierre on Rogan. My review: Pierre really had Joe eating out of his hand. No conflict, no second-guessing. Mostly innocuous, non-newsworthy topics. Kind of incredibly so. There were a few corny moments, but could not have gone better for Pierre.
The all-party "Indigenous consensus" in British Columbia is truly over. The BC Conservatives made opposing expansion of First Nations political power/land control core to their brand and are leading the polls. AND there’s a new third party, OneBC, whose whole thing is this issue.
Pierre is not going to out-anti-American Carney. If all Canadians want is a leader who will make Canada-US relations even worse, then they'll vote Liberal and that's their choice. The best Pierre can do, imo, is make the case for why the relationship is worth getting right.
A lot of liberal Canadians were very triggered by that Globe story about Alabama. What’s revealing is no one seems to be offering evidence that Canada’s ECONOMY is actually better, though that was the focus of the piece. All the rebuttals are just about quality of life stuff.
Canadian Boomers’ love of vacationing in Communist Cuba has always been a national disgrace. There’s nothing more skin-crawling than overhearing some twice-divorced ham-face being like “hyuk hyuk and best of all there ain’t no Americans there!!!”
Mark Carney is trying to seize a costly Liberal majority government that Canadians voted against in the last election through dirty backroom deals.
Matt Jeneroux has betrayed the people of Edmonton Riverbend who voted for affordable food and homes, safe streets, and a strong resource sector.
Conservatives will continue our fight for a Canada that's affordable, safe, and self-reliant.
Literally all of Trump’s trade demands from Canada are good, I’m sorry to say. If Carney views protecting these special interest handouts as more important than maintaining free trade with the US then he’s not serving the national interest of Canadians.
