An article from Manchester City’s own website dated 21 September 2018 has been brought to my attention.

Andy Burnham was in China at the end of a trade delegation when, as Mayor of Greater Manchester, he joined the Manchester City delegation for the opening of City Football Group’s second office in China.

Burnham said, “City Football Group’s work in Shenzhen demonstrates the football organisation’s commitment to China.”

He then described CFG and the Chinese football authorities as “a perfect partnership.”

That raises an obvious question for me, why was the Mayor of Greater Manchester effectively promoting City Football Group’s international expansion in China?

Given the questions now being asked about Burnham’s links with Manchester City and its ownership, this deserves closer scrutiny.

Last Thursday, Burnham let 700 prisoners walk free.

Violent offenders. Thieves. Domestic abusers. Out after serving a fraction of their sentences.

3,800 more are coming.

Yet MoJ data as of last Monday shows men's prisons are still at around 99% capacity, over two years into Labour's early releases.

It hasn't worked. It was never going to work.

Reoffending is near record highs. For the first time ever, more people are being recalled to prison than released.

Burnham has created a revolving door where Britain's most dangerous get out, offend again, and land right back in jail. 

Ordinary Brits will be victimised, some killed, and the prisons crisis will be right back at square one.

It didn't have to be this way.

Build prisons. Deport the 10,000+ foreign criminals in British jails.

Do both and Britain could be locking up more criminals, not fewer.

Labour chose not to.

Reform will.
