WATCH: House prosecutor Terry Ridon says the defense team has nothing to blame but themselves about the supposed taken-out-of-context remark of defense lawyer, Kristine Ferrer, during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, August 12.

Ferrer was quoted as saying "they are allowed" shortly after opposing counsel Lorna Kapunan mentioned that misleading questions are not allowed in cross examination.

However, before the adjournment this afternoon, lead defense counsel Sheila Sison explained that Ferrer was pertaining to a different matter, in particular to the questions answerable by yes or no.

"Kung very sharp to the draw ang defense on the conversation and tit for tat during the trial itself, Ms. Ferrer would know, na hindi po iyon dapat ang sinagot noong panahon na iyon,"Ridon said. | @bylancemejico

Lead defense counsel Atty. Sheila Sison called out the social media post of prosecution counsel Atty. Amando Ligutan regarding the "misleading question" exchange of his co-counsel, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, and defense lawyer Atty. Kristine Ferrer.

"I find it troubling that a private prosecutor would do this," adding that impeachment court is also a court of decorum and that the rules of impeachment prohibit participants from commenting on the case.

"It's inappropriate to do that to a fellow member of the bar," Sison added.

Lead House prosecutor Gerville Luistro moved for Ligutan to be recognized but Presiding Officer Francis Escudero dismissed the request.

Escudero added that he asked the clerk of court to monitor the public statements of the counsels of the parties, "and one side has been crossing the line many, many times. In fact, the presiding officer is already in the process of drafting a ruling, a warning, and an order pertaining to this."

Escudero said he will rule on it at the next trial, alongside his decision on his request for both camps to have new spokespersons who are not serving as counsel in the trial. #VPOnTrial
