I’m 57. Born in 1968 to a Boomer mother born in 1948. And I’m living in some twisted twilight zone where the same generation that basically ghost-parented us is now trying to lecture us on social media.

Let me paint you a picture: Gen X grew up with keys around our necks, making our own after-school snacks, and figuring out life while our Boomer parents were off “finding themselves” or climbing corporate ladders. We were the original latchkey kids - raised by MTV, video games, and trial-and-error because supervision was optional.

We learned to be self-reliant because we had to be. We developed our “whatever” attitude because nobody was around to give us direction anyway. We became resourceful, independent, and yes - we stopped expecting emotional validation from authority figures because it simply wasn’t there.

Now these same Boomers - now 75-85 years old - are suddenly popping up on Facebook and TikTok like some kind of wisdom-dispensing genies, critiquing our parenting, our work ethic, our “don’t give a fuck” approach to life.

THE AUDACITY IS BREATHTAKING.

You can’t abandon an entire generation to raise themselves and then reappear 50 years later with hot takes about how we turned out. You can’t be absentee parents and then suddenly want to play wise elder when it’s convenient.

We didn’t ask for your input then, and we sure as hell aren’t asking for it now.
