The thing is, people are wrong when they think Agents of SHIELD “diverged” from MCU canon in its final seasons.
First of all, Season 5 was directly connected to the events of Avengers: Infinity War, with its final episodes unfolding in real time alongside the movie. Half the cast only didn't turn to dust during the season finale because the writers and producers were working under the assumption that it might be the show's final season, without knowing for sure whether it would be renewed.
For Season 6, the team was told by the network (ABC) the show would premiere in January of 2019, before Avengers: Endgame (released in April). That meant they couldn't spoil the movie's five-year time jump, so they had no way of directly connecting the season to that particular event.
As for Season 7, they traveled through time and eventually branched off from the Sacred Timeline. However, the series finale explicitly established that they returned to their original timeline through the Quantum Realm.
And honestly, Season 7 is actually VERY connected to the MCU canon.
The idea that AoS simply stopped being canon in its final seasons ignores the production circumstances, the show's direct connections to the movies, and, most importantly, what the finale itself tells us.
@NicholasPas5@SchwayJohn This speaks to the absolutist nature of “comic book twitter” that I hate. Either something is absolute cinema or pure trash. No room for middle ground, no room for mixed feelings, no room for nuanced takes.
