@ABDanielleSmith With all due respect Premier Smith, we teachers have no reason to trust you.
I applaud Jason Schilling (@schill_dawg ) & the ATA (@albertateachers) for standing up to you & your dishonest government.
The following pictures have been added for context for those reading along.
@itsmeCharlene99@TheBreakdownAB Those books are not books that were available to elementary students. Teen /YA books are labelled in a library. We have a dot system where kids can only take out certain categories depending on grade. She’s creating distractions from underfunding & privatization of services!
Smith today…
“We asked school boards to use their discretion”
So…
She didn’t read the ministerial order either?
Who is even making the decisions in this government?

Wait. Why are taxpayers funding private schools?
Smith frames this funding as better for taxpayers because they are paying less per student.....
But you know what would be even better?
Not funding private schools with taxpayer money at all.
Reporter - “You’re saying that teachers suddenly asked for better wages, but they’ve been asking for better wages for months?”
Horner - “Well yeah, but we have no appetite to pay more”

@Red_Ink_Wisdom@janischmlj@KellyAlemanRD How & when did you decide yours? If you weren’t given the ‘choice’, then who programmed you to think you’re cis? Did your body parts match your feelings, or were you ever uncomfortable with your body? Whose approval did you need to seek to confirm your identity?
@Jacquied171@KellyAlemanRD This is bc of funding models created by political officials. Talk to your Min. Of Education. Schools/boards have to distribute $ as directed by AbEd. Sometimes they have to give 1-1 supports for physical/safety reasons that are underfunded, and $ comes from the pool. 😞
@_Andrew_Chu_@KellyAlemanRD We know the importance of screening, the criticism is that $ for multiple rounds of screening for issues already identified would be better spent as supports/interventions. Research shows vulnerable kids lose self-efficacy with more testing.
A teen from St. Theresa Point Anisininew Nation has already checked off an item on his bucket list.
He opened up for one of his favourite pop rock bands when Marianas Trench performed at the 42nd annual Bannock Festival.

Hey, just read your email.
Let's pretend teachers don't know where their students are struggling.
Once these gaps have been identified....then what?
Will you hire teachers?
Will you hire EAs?
How about curriculum resources?
Build schools?

This is disgusting rhetoric from Poilievre. No, it's bad the shooter is dead. That means justice is denied and further perpetuates violence.
This is abominable stuff from the man who could become Prime Minister.

@vbos_david @RodKahx When you are a suspect, you are just that unless proven otherwise in our justice system. A ‘suspect’ shouldn’t be wished harm by an aspiring political leader. What precedent or tone is it setting when we undermine our tenets of innocent until proven guilty?
There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.
