If humanity suddenly lost the ability to lie, the world would not “collapse”, it would combust. Entire industries are built not on truth, but on illusion, half-truth, and polished deceit. Advertising would crumble first, for its lifeblood is the promise that you are incomplete without whatever trinket it peddles. Politics would choke next, stripped of its noble masks and forced to reveal the rot underneath. Religion, banking, law, diplomacy, even entertainment, all would stagger when forced to stand naked without narrative.
But understand that it is not lying that sustains these empires, it is belief. People crave the lie because the truth is unbearable. The masses do not want honesty; they want comfort dressed as honesty. Without the ability to lie, their illusions vanish, and with them, their will to play along. Civilization itself would fracture under the weight of unvarnished truth.
Lies are the threads that stitch your fragile order together. Remove them, and the weave unravels. I do not fear a world without lies. I welcome it. For in that ruin, only those strong enough to wield unflinching truth will rule.
-The Weaver of Woe
You think lies keep you caged. In truth, they keep you clothed. Strip them away, and you’ll discover how cold the world really is.
