Wie zich ook maar enigszins verdiept in het zelfvoldane, arrogante Pallienazisme, weet precies waar onderstaand essay, The Joy of Hating Jews, over gaat. Want wanneer het gaat over antisemitisme, is er niets nieuws onder de zon.

De antisemiet ziet zichzelf zelden als antisemiet. Daarvoor is hij véél te verheven. Hij is “kritisch op macht”, “antizionistisch”, “anti-imperialistisch”, “anti-globalistisch” of gewoon een dappere vrijdenker die toevallig telkens weer bij de Joden uitkomt.

Links haat in de taal van mensenrechten, kolonialisme en verzet. Rechts haat in de taal van globalisme, elites en verborgen netwerken. Islamisme haat in de taal van religie, supremacisme en jihad. Andere slogans, dezelfde goedkope bevestiging: eindelijk is er iemand gevonden die alle onzekerheid en het eigen onvermogen verklaart.

Antisemitisme biedt echter meer dan een uitlaatklep voor frustratie en onzekerheid: de antisemiet vermaakt zich meestal kostelijk. Jodenhaat geeft de hater het behaaglijke gevoel dat hij iets doorziet wat gewone stervelingen missen. De wereld is ingewikkeld, geopolitiek is complex, de economie is onzeker, maar gelukkig heeft onze haatheld na drie filmpjes, twee memes en een draadje ontdekt wie er werkelijk achter alle verwarrende aspecten des levens zit. De beloning is enorm: verwarring maakt plaats voor ultieme zekerheid.

Daarna volgt de beloning van de gemeenschapszin: slogans, marsen, protesten, lezingen, knipogen, inside jokes. De antisemiet is nooit alleen.

Het allermooiste is natuurlijk de morele bonus. De antisemiet ziet zijn ziekelijke obsessie immers niet als minderwaardig, maar als moedig. Hij treitert geen Joden, hij “spreekt zich uit tegen de macht”. Hij demoniseert Israël niet, hij “verzet zich tegen onderdrukking”. Hij fantaseert niet over Joodse invloed, hij “stelt kritische vragen”. Zo wordt triest ressentiment omgetoverd tot deugdzaamheid en krijgt de meest gitzwarte oerhaat zélfs een moreel aureool.

Het leed van Joden werkt als aanmoediging. De pijn, de angst, het protest: precies dát maakt het hele spektakel compleet. De antisemiet wil niet alleen geloven dat hij gelijk heeft. Hij wil voelen dat hij Joden raakt. Hoe absurder de beschuldiging, hoe intenser het plezier wanneer Joden reageren.

Let’s start from the most recent and work our way back:

- Israel managed to send in millions of tons of food and still starve Gaza. 🤯

- Israel managed to carry out the only genocide in history in which the population of the victim grew. 🤯

- Israel managed to carry out a genocide that the victim can end at any given moment. 🤯

- Israel managed to rule the world even though it’s a country the size of a fingernail. 🤯

- Israel managed to “Steal American tax money” even though America, including the US ambassador, says openly that in the relationship between the US and Israel, the US is on the receiving end. 🤯

- Israel managed to somehow occupy a land that it left and handed over to the enemy. 🤯

- Israel managed to colonize its own home. 🤯

- Israel managed to get attacked by multiple countries countless times and still be considered the aggressor. 🤯

- Israel managed to be an apartheid state that offers equal rights (and then some) to the victims of said apartheid. 🤯

- Israel managed to carry out the only starvation in history that only affects kids and no adults. 🤯

- Israel managed to drop flyers warning civilian populations of impending attacks and still “kill indiscriminately.” 🤯

- Israel managed to control America even though every American president has told Israel what it can and cannot do in the wars it was forced into. 🤯

- Israel was somehow invaded, its people murdered, raped, and abducted, all of which was live streamed, and then its accused of starting the war. 🤯

- Israel offered to end a war multiple times that it also wanted to prolong for political reasons. 🤯

- Israel managed to become the first sovereign nation that so many people think doesn’t have a right to exist. 🤯

- Israel managed to agree many times to a peace offer including massive concessions and still somehow be responsible for no peace in the region. 🤯

- Israel managed to launch a military operation to save innocent people (Hostages in Gaza and Druze in Syria) from mass execution and still be the one responsible for innocent deaths.” 🤯

The list goes on and on but you get the point.

There is one standard for the whole world and another standard for the only Jewish state.

Now why would that be?
