A letter from Opinionated Sarah
Hey @mikslmnc .
I will not beat around the bush. I just want to tell you that I miss you, and that I am still here. You might not see me on X, or on my accounts, or anywhere obvious, but I am here. Watching. Supporting. Quietly cheering for you.
I just want you to know that I watched Call Me Mother four times, for you. I have never even watched Filipino movies in the cinema before, yet I dragged my friends and family with me just to watch it. Hahaha
I know what is happening outside. I see it on my FB timeline, and I even rushed to ask Tash how you were feeling. I may not know everything, but I know enough to understand that it has not been easy.
For 2026, I wish you something very specific and very important, a genuinely good circle. Supporters who are steady. Fans who are kind. Friends and workmates who protect you, not drain you. I will no longer pry into whatever this noise is trying to point at, but please remember this, every issue, every rumor, every hateful word, whether it comes from a stranger, a fan, or even someone you once trusted, says more about them than it does about you.
Fans come and go. Some leave quietly. Some leave loudly. Some leave while trying to take pieces of you with them. That hurts, especially when they once claimed to love you. But the truth is, people who abandon you at your lowest were never meant to walk with you for long. Let them go. You do not need to chase people who only know how to stay when things are convenient.
Life will keep throwing lemons, sometimes one at a time, sometimes all at once. You do not always need to turn them into lemonade right away. Sometimes, the strongest thing you can do is simply survive the sourness, rest, and choose yourself again the next day. Problems do not define you. They refine you, if you allow them to, without letting them harden your heart.
I know this situation touches your biggest trauma, being accused of lying, being abandoned of, of not being enough for people who once cheered for you. That kind of pain cuts deep. But please remember this, you are stronger than your trauma. Trauma may explain the hurt, but it does not get to write the ending of your story. You have already outgrown versions of yourself that once struggled just to stand, and that alone proves how far you have come.
I wish you a year where you can walk through crowds with a peaceful heart. A year where you are no longer always given the short end of the stick. We cannot please everyone. Some people will always be hurt, no matter how careful you are, but I hope you learn that it is not your job to carry everyone else’s pain.
At the end of the day, what matters is that you stay true to yourself, protect your peace, and keep moving forward without dragging the weight of other people’s expectations behind you.
While you scan the crowd beside you, while you read posts from fans, I hope you know this, there is one person in a far away crowd who feels genuinely happy seeing you finally live out the dreams your 2023 and 2024 self once whispered in silence.
And if you ever need to talk to someone new, you can always ask Tash for my number, hahaha. You can DM me anytime.
I do not know if this message will make things lighter for you. But seeing you at peace, healing, and happy, without pretending, will always be one of the things that makes me smile.
Take care always, my Mika.
All love,
Opinionated Sarah
I may not be able to silence all the bashers away. But dont you worry kiddo. You’re safe. You’re loved. And you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.
They may be loud, but konti sila. Madami kami
