@JacintaAllanMP Excuse me. Every Sunday for last year of active genocide, pro-peace voices have marched down Burke st. Myer is welcome to pick another day. Framing this as 'pro-Palestine versus Christmas' is utterly disgusting. That's actually the politicising of Christmas going on here.
Trump will begin operations to deport millions of undocumented immigrants when he starts his term, campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The goal set by the Trump campaign is to detain and remove 13 to 25 million people, they plan to indefinitely detain them across various camps.
The operation is being called "the largest deportation in history" and it is estimated that it will cost around 88 billion tax dollars to complete. The current US prison population is only 1.8 million. It is estimated that they could remove 1 million people per year. Experts estimate families may be rounded up together, including individuals who are not illegal, including green card holders or citizens born to illegal migrants. Future Trump proposals also include backtracking on green cards that have already been granted and exploring legislation to remove the citizenship of those born to parents not born in the US.
Economist state that the mass deportation plan, if carried out as described by the Trump administration, will worsen the housing crisis and create an economic crisis in the long run.

There is no easy way to talk about this. This week the UN announced we are on track to reach up to 3.1° Celsius of warming. We are slated to blow past the goals of the Paris Accords. Here's what this means. (1/9) 🧵
This is how the BBC chooses to frame news of the imminent collapse of our civilisation & the demise of everything & everyone you love.
The media is unable to engage with the scale of our predicament because doing so would expose the media as a major cause of our predicament.
And when it does, and it wrecks your life Australians, remember your Government just kept approving massive new coal and gas projects right to the end, even though they knew this would happen.

I spent years debating hawkish Western liberals on ‘humanitarian interventions’ - from Kosovo to Libya to Syria.
But now it’s Israel doing the exterminating - in Jabalia, across northern Gaza, rounding up men and boys, bombing hospitals - silence from those same liberals.
One thing there is very little general understanding of, is that we have passed a critical phase with the climate and ecological crisis, which makes it far different, that it was before.
It is very difficult to define this critical phase, but I will try.

The Amazon is one of the most important carbon sinks in the atmosphere, said Lucas Ferrante, a biologist and researcher.
“Today it has started to emit carbon,” he said. “We are at a turning point, a point of no return.” https://t.co/gZWwJd5y0K
