@federalbaseball Join your incredulity! No brainer. Nats fans (particularly, Season Plan Holders) want Taboni to make improvements at the ML level this year, too. Put the most competitive personnel on the ML field!
@federalbaseball Extremely disappointed with Taboni today. He settled for Jhuancarlos Lara from the Braves and let the Braves outright Carlos Carrasco to AAA Gwinnett after Carrasco was DFA’d by the Braves on 6/10. How or why did this happen? Please investigate!
@federalbaseball Cornelio reduced his ERA to 3,98 before giving it all back with walks, a wild pitch and a 2-run rbi single. ERA is now 7.38. Clearly, Cornelio has been in the game longer than optimal, but this org is so pitching poor that management cannot spare other relievers. Still pitching!
@MarkZuckerman Carlos Carrasco was outrighted to the Gwinette Stripers (Brave’s AAA club) today. Paul Tobani settled for Jhancarlos Lara from the Braves. Why? Braves will likely sign a new contract with Carrasco within days (just like they did with Martin Perez in April). Investigate, please.
@MarkZuckerman No active ball players or managerial staff sighted in or around either dugout or bullpen. Looks like they don’t expect to start the game anytime soon.
@MarkZuckerman Jhancarlis Lara is NOT Carlos Carrasco, who the Braves DFA’d on 6/10. Why can’t the Nats pick up Carrasco? “Why not us?” Why is Parker still at ML level instead of Pulin? Why is Taboni sitting on his hands after the SF Bay debacle game?
@federalbaseball Braves DFA’d Carlos Carrasco yesterday. Is a prorated portion of his salary this year within the Nats org’s reach? If so, Nats should make a waiver claim. Perhaps arrange trades with other teams to secure his pick on the waiver wire.
@federalbaseball Nats also need to “reserve” in-game bullpen mounds for relievers who may really come in game. Butera having Mikolas throw bullpen session during a ML game is an “overconfident” Spring Training minor league exercise which should NEVER happen again. Precludes double barrel warmup.
@GrantPaulsen@funnydanny Realize he is a friend of your radio show, but.,.After Butera’s “deer frozen in the headlights” management of the bottom of the 8th inning last night, “Butera” may be southern drawl for “Boo Terror!”
@MarkZuckerman Butera was a big part of this loss. After watching Schultz give up back to back Homers within 3 pitches, he got “deer in the headlights” syndrome and watched Schultz walk the next two batters and give up a double without moving to Ribalta or Mikolas (or getting others ready).
@federalbaseball Option Schultz back to Rochester immediately. To Butera: Why not bring back Ribalta to start the ninth? Why leave Schultz in after 2 consecutive home runs, after first walk, after second walk, all in a row. Programatic “scheduled duration” pitching must yield to on-field results.
@TalkNats Actually, if the postseason started today, the Nats would be in sole possession of the third wild card because of their tie breaker head to head wins over SD and AZ. Would you believe Nats being in wild card position after 68 games?

@federalbaseball So pleased and relieved the 3-game slide was emphatically broken by this resilient Nats ML team. Reclaiming .500 and blasting back up to net positive runs scored for the season (+3). Way to go, Nats!
@TalkNats Nats emphatically break the 3 game losing streak negativity with 13 run positivity to reclaim .500 and + 3 runs on the season. Now that’s the kind of resilience produced by a winning mindset. Back to building the positive and reducing the negative. Way to go Nats!
@spencernusbaum_ Lots of blame to go around this series. Front office: not rotating in/out “option-able” bench pitchers and hitters. Manager(s): lineup and substitutions - McCullough crushed Butera. Players: hitting + pitching lacked discipline, perhaps wrong approach. June Swoon gets momentum.
@spencernusbaum_ Excellent observation, Spencer. Nats’ brass need to advise catchers and pitchers that use of the ABS Challenge on in the ninth inning is worth it when playing from behind. Perhaps only for batters when tied or ahead.
