I used to be into heavy stuff like 18xx, Lacerda and Splotter. But its the simplicity, variability and creativity of trick-taking games that truly makes me tick
Follow by playing chips of the same color, or play the other color if the sum of the two chips adds to 9. If both chips are the same color, the larger number wins. If they are not, the smaller number wins. I imagine this as a game in Korean game shows! One of my favorites. (2/2)
Fractal Tricks by @DimidiumB
2p TT where both players have opposing goals. Cosmos wins when the pattern in the inner triangle matches the pattern of any of the outer triangles. Chaos wins when the patterns do not match. (1/2)
Time Travel Together by @9mashika
A brainy, must-follow, co-op 2p TT. The goal for players is to clear the entire deck while fulfilling the condition stated on the mission. When a "follow" occurs, the token moves towards the player who played the larger number. (1/2)
Tricq Shot by @PaixGuild
TTer that simulates a billiards game. When you win a trick, you can choose one of the balls to pocket. If you selected stripes at the beginning, pocketed stripe balls give + points and solid balls give - points, and vice versa. Appreciate the theme!
The shredding rule is restrictive as you are only allowed to play a larger set of the same size meld, or increase the size if you play the same number. Thus even if you stockpile strong melds in your hand, you may not get to play it. I believe the game is meant to be thinky (2/2)
Merchant of Goldfish by @okazu_900jaku
Shredder by Hisashi Hayashi. Players are allowed to swap cards from hand with cards from the market as long as they add up to be the same value, and are equal or less than 14. It certainly plays very different. (1/2)
Length by @timebomb_sato
Shredder where players gain points by meeting objective cards. Objectives can be fulfilled either by straights or X of a kind. The hand size limit of 10 prevents card-hoarding, so you have to decide the best time to cash in your hand. Simple and fun!
6 Rivers by @shzwtk
TTer with Taiki's new Lead Trump mechanic. You draft a trump condition at the start of the round and it activates when you lead. I appreciate the potential of this innovation in the genre. It certainly forces you to think and play different. (1/2)

Really clever NPC TT-er. Players are trying to how many tricks the NPC wins while not winning more tricks than the NPC at the same time. While the AI is simpler than Robotrick, the mechanisms truly work well together.
The trump conditions are- high number wins, low number wins, and the usual color trumps. What we could not really figure out is when the color trumps would be impactful. As it only activates when you lead, your suit would have been stronger anyway since it is the lead suit. (2/2)
