π¨ A PHC Meant to Serve Over 2,000 People Has Been Left in Ruins in Abia
Otuobi PHC in Umuokiri Community, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Abia is currently unable to provide quality healthcare services due to the devastating effects of vandalization that occurred in 2024.
According to the Officer-in-Charge, the facility lost most of its equipment and now lacks basic essentials including:
β Mattresses
β Vaccination freezers
β Toilet facilities
β Water supply
β Electricity
This is a health facility serving more than 2,000 residents, yet it is struggling to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
We call on Gov @alexottiofr, @NG_AbiaState, Hon. Chidi Chris Agu, Abia State Ministry of Health, and relevant authorities to prioritize the revitalization of Otuobi PHC and restore essential health services to the people of Umuokiri.
At the same time, we urge community members to protect public infrastructure. Vandalizing public facilities only deprives our communities of critical services and undermines collective development.
Public facilities belong to all of us. Let's protect them, preserve them, and hold government accountable for maintaining them.
We paid monitoring visits to PHC Gabi, Lapai LGA, Niger state and met it in shambles.
A section of the ceiling is leaking, allowing water to enter during rainfall, the walls are mold infested and the windows are bad.
We also observed that a borehole project started 4 years ago has been abandoned. And although the facility is connected to the public water supply, it is not reliable.
We implore the @NphcdaNG, the @Fmohnigeria, and the @NGSMoh, to facilitate the renovation of this facility.
State of health facilities across the country can no longer be a quiet issueβΌοΈ
This is the state of Balogun community PHC, in Ikire Irewole LGA, Osun state. The only facility serving a community of over 6000 residents.
No maintenance has been done on the facility since its construction in 2005. Now the roofing sheets have blown away, windows and doors collapsed, the walls are cracked and the environment is surrounded with bush.
Community members have to travel over 5km to a neighbouring community to get basic treatment and during emergencies, chances are that travel time will make things worse for patients.
The community head told us that several letters have been written to the authorities (Senator, Federal Rep and LGA chairman) about the condition of this facility but they received no positive response.
We implore the office of the Gov @AAdeleke_01, the @NphcdaNG, @Fmohnigeria, to facilitate the reconstruction of this facility and supply of medical equipment for standard care.

Our Akwa Ibom state officer, James Akpan @generalakpan7 on XL FM 106.9 in Uyo, to discuss my field documentation of the status of primary health care centers in the state and how it affects residents.
Dear Gov @_PastorUmoEno,
Ikot Edong Health Centre, Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom state has been in a dire state for over 10years.
This facility is the only public health facility serving the entire Ikot Edong and there are no functional toilets, no electricity, and no water source. The building is dilapidated, with cracked walls that threaten to collapse and a roof that leaks during rainfall.
This facility is not at all suitable for healthcare delivery. Despite receiving medical equipment through the BHPH, it remains unused due to the lack of a proper facility.
We implore your office and the @NphcdaNG , the @Fmohnigeria to facilitate the reconstruction of this facility.
