@Born4Jihad Most of the diaspora don’t even care about this stuff and the “Sovereign Sylhet” movement has barely any traction. The more attention people give fringe movements like this, the more visibility they get. Sometimes ignoring them is more effective...
@laiowpe Fair point. Bangladesh doesn’t currently have the capital, technology or offshore expertise to do this alone, so foreign investors need incentives. My concern is whether the terms are too generous and whether we’re actually building domestic capacity long term.
Most Bangladeshis probably don’t know this: foreign companies already produce the majority of Bangladesh’s gas, and now 26 offshore blocks are being opened to international investors.
The gas is ours, but a significant share of the profits could end up flowing abroad.
@_imtiaz1899 Yup, exactly. Government data should be taken with a pinch of salt, especially in a developing country like Bangladesh where data collection and reporting is fairly inconsistent
“Over half of British Jews feel very emotionally attached to a genocidal fascist project. Let's be honest enough to say that this is shameful, and a huge problem. Great grandparents suffering fascism doesn't justify further fascism.”

@YannWhenn@BakshyK@user029282993@evoslanp@MoghMaro No, that isn’t misrepresenting the facts. I’ve already said Sylhetis, Chittagonians and other Bengali Muslim groups mostly cluster together, so it is representative. The Sylhet samples are from all over Sylhet too, and Reza keeps adding more. Kinda wasting my time here...

@YannWhenn@BakshyK@user029282993@evoslanp@MoghMaro And even if we’re only talking about the smaller sample set from Reza’s own family, are you aware that his wife and in-laws aren’t even from the same area? They’re obviously not related to him either. So even that subset isn’t simply one closely related family from one locality.
@YannWhenn@BakshyK@user029282993@evoslanp@MoghMaro You can have your own opinion, that’s fair enough. But I feel like I’m repeating myself here. Kulin’s samples make up all of the Chittagong samples, whereas the Sylhet samples come from multiple unrelated people. That’s why the Chittagong set is skewed and the Sylhet set isn’t.
@YannWhenn@BakshyK@user029282993@evoslanp@MoghMaro We’re just going back and forth now. You clearly don’t know Reza, because I’m basing this on samples that both he and I have collected from people from across Sylhet. Contact him... and the only skewed results are the Chittagong samples because they’re coming from Kulin’s family.
@YannWhenn@BakshyK@user029282993@evoslanp@MoghMaro How can you say Chittagong samples representative? They aren't. They're are mainly Kulin's family. They're heavily skewed. This is actually a skewed result. I just said earlier that the Sylhet samples aren't skewed because they represent different samples (not just Reza's family)
