On Monday afternoon, my family and I traveled to the NC State Capitol Building in Raleigh to attend a ceremony honoring the recipients of the Governor's Medallion Award for Volunteer Service. It was an honor to be to chosen for my work with the Fishers of Kids Anglers Academy.
Chris Johnston shares with us his immediate thoughts after winning the 2026 @YokohamaTC Bassmaster Elite at Santee Cooper Lakes, his second Elite Series win. 🏆
If you've paid attention to @kubota_usa Heavy Hitters Presented by @BassProShops over the last two days, you already know: Orange Lake is crazy, crazy good. Day 2 might have been ever better than Day 1 – and that’s saying something. Michael Neal had one of the most impressive days we’ve ever seen. Mark Davis was stellar. Keith Carson caught a 9-pounder that ended up being a footnote as 16 pros combined for 18 bass over 5 pounds (including three over 8). Check out the highlights right here, and don’t forget to watch it all live over the next four days at https://t.co/CrsUrXWsQp.

Our recent Hook’Em Early was a big success! We had a great turnout and so many kids caught some beautiful fish! Big thanks to all the parents and volunteers that came out to help get these kids fishing!🎣 #hookemearly
Congratulations to @MercuryMarine pro Michael Neal on breaking a record that stood for… a day. 🙃 Takahiro Omori took home the @BerkleyFishing Big Bass bonus yesterday with a 10-pounder – at the time, the heaviest bass ever weighed in Heavy Hitters competition. Not to be outdone, Neal hauled in an 11-pound monster on Day 2 to knock Keith Carson’s 9-pounder off the hot seat and claim his own $10,000 prize.

It’s hard to explain in a SCORETRACKER® graphic just how insane Day 2 of @kubota_usa Heavy Hitters Presented by @BassProShops actually was (you’ll want to check out social media feeds regularly this evening to catch up). Simply put, today was awesome. @MichaelNealFish was the star of the show with an all-time best 11-pounder, an 8-pounder and a slew of 6s. His 11-pounder won @BerkleyFishing Big Bass and earned him an extra $10,000. And here’s what’s crazy: He didn’t even lead Group B for the day. That honor went to Mark Davis, who himself had a 6 and a couple 7s. All told, we saw 12 bass of 6 pounds or better on the day. Like we said: insane.

🚨 MONSTER BASS ALERT 🚨
The new record for all-time heaviest Heavy Hitters bass lasted little more than 24 hours. That’s some tough luck for @Takahiro_Omori, but we knew there was a good chance a 10-1 wasn’t going to stand very long at a place like Orange Lake. Congrats to @MichaelNealFish on the 11-pounder (his new personal best) and likely @BerkleyFishing Big Bass of Day 2 at @kubota_usa Heavy Hitters Presented by @BassProShops! WHAT. A. BEAST.

“I don’t think I got anything.” We beg to differ, @MichaelNealFish! Nothing better than a 6-plus-pound surprise when you strip away the hydrilla wrapping paper. That’s Neal’s third 6-plus-pounder of the day – he’s not catching bunches, but he sure is catching the right ones.
