On this day in 2015, Vince Staples released his debut studio LP, ‘Summertime '06.’
The two-disc album tells the story of Staples' experiences as a teenager growing up in Long Beach, CA during the summer of 2006. Reflecting on the project in an interview with Sway's Universe, @vincestaples explained, “[As a kid], you got to figure out a way to not feel ashamed of yourself and where you come from...embodying the power of fear is what we tried to do at a young age and that's why the album sounds like that.”
Mohamed Diawara was certainly going to get significant interest from other teams as a restricted free agent, per league sources. Knicks and Diawara are working on eight figure deal to bring the rookie back to NY. Not done, but all signs pointing to it getting done, sources confirm. Diawara felt welcomed by NY from Day One and was very comfortable with his teammates. So even if another big offer came, NY had an edge. ESPN first reported Diawara deal.
The Knicks belong to New York City. And this championship belongs to the people who waited 53 years for it.
That’s why we’re giving away 600 free tickets to Thursday’s Championship Ceremony at City Hall following the ticker-tape parade.
