Settler Attacks: Organized Terrorism Undermines Security and Fuels a Cycle of Bloodshed

Settler attacks on Palestinian towns cannot be viewed as isolated incidents or individual clashes; rather, they are systematic practices that constitute a blatant violation of international law and the most basic humanitarian principles. The attack in a town near Nablus, which resulted in the deaths of four Palestinians, reveals once again the extent of the danger these attacks pose to civilian lives and confirms that continued impunity encourages their repetition and expansion.

Targeting civilians, burning property, and terrorizing residents cannot be justified under any political or security pretext. Protecting civilians is a legal and moral obligation, and any attack against them constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and undermines the chances of achieving security and stability.

Conversely, the killing of two Israeli soldiers highlights the fact that continued escalation and violence only lead to further loss of life on all sides. Every new round of violence leaves victims, deepens hatred, and pushes the region further away from any prospect of a political solution that guarantees security and dignity for all.

The absence of effective international accountability for settler attacks sends a dangerous message that these violations can continue with impunity, threatening to widen the conflict and increase the suffering of innocent civilians. Double standards in dealing with victims also undermine confidence in international law and exacerbate the sense of injustice.

Ending settler attacks, protecting civilians, and holding perpetrators accountable are not merely political demands; they are fundamental requirements for respecting international law and preventing further bloodshed. Continued violence will not bring security to any party; rather, it will lead to further human tragedies, the price of which will ultimately be paid by innocent civilians.

لا يمكن النظر إلى اعتداءات المستوطنين على البلدات الفلسطينية باعتبارها أحداثًا عابرة أو اشتباكات فردية، بل هي ممارسات ممنهجة تمثل انتهاكًا صارخًا للقانون الدولي ولأبسط المبادئ الإنسانية. وما شهدته إحدى بلدات نابلس، والذي أسفر عن سقوط أربعة شهداء، يكشف مرة أخرى حجم الخطر الذي تمثله هذه الاعتداءات على حياة المدنيين، ويؤكد أن استمرار الإفلات من العقاب يشجع على تكرارها واتساع نطاقها.

إن استهداف المدنيين، وحرق الممتلكات، وترويع السكان، لا يمكن تبريره تحت أي ذريعة سياسية أو أمنية. فحماية المدنيين واجب قانوني وأخلاقي، وأي اعتداء عليهم يُعد انتهاكًا للقانون الإنس��ني الدولي ويقوّض فرص تحقيق الأمن والاستقرار.

وفي المقابل، فإن مقتل عسكريَّين إسرائيليَّين يبرز حقيقة أن استمرار التصعيد والعنف لا يؤدي إلا إلى المزيد من الخسائر البشرية من جميع الأطراف. فكل جولة جديدة من العنف تخلّف ضحايا، وتعمّق مشاعر الكراهية، وتُبعد المنطقة أكثر عن أي أفق لحل سياسي يضمن الأمن والكرامة للجميع.

إن غياب المساءلة الدولية الفاعلة تجاه اعتداءات المستوطنين يبعث برسالة خطيرة مفادها أن هذه الانتهاكات يمكن أن تستمر دون عواقب، وهو ما يهدد بتوسيع دائرة الصراع ويزيد من معاناة المدنيين الأبرياء. كما أن ازدواجية المعايير في التعامل مع الضحايا تُضعف الثقة بالقانون الدولي وتُفاقم الشعور بالظلم.

لا يمكن فصل أي حديث عن الانتخابات عن الواقع الذي يعيشه سكان غزة. فالمدن والأحياء التي تحولت إلى أنقاض، والأسر التي فقدت أبناءها ومنازلها، والأزمة الإنسانية التي يعي��ها القطاع، تجعل أي خطاب يتحدث عن “الانتصار” أو السعي إلى تجديد الشرعية عبر الانتخابات موضع جدل واسع.
