The decline is way too rapid. Western countries will one day end up occupied because a country with no population cannot defend itself. You fail to see the bigger picture that a birth rate under 2.1 means the population will converge towards *zero*. Either way, we need to find a way to increase birth rates or we will all go extinct in the long run. Might as well start looking for solutions to it today because no one has the answer currently.

We don't need to shrink the population at all if the trend continues like this. With a birth rate of close to 1.0, do you realize that the population will halve every generation? The decline will be so rapid we will have countries full of old people and not enough working age people left.

Because Africa will eventually face the same problems with low birth day one day most likely. Practically all countries who got out of poverty deal with this now. A low birth rate means there is not enough people to look after us when we get old. Doesn't help that there are millions in Africa because they are not the workforce here.

@LocasaleLab No vaccine in history has been found to cause cancer. Cancer is something that develops over years or decades. A vaccine is usually taken once or a few times only, so the reaction would likely be during a transient period unlike with for example a drug that you take every day.
