"Research in Neurodiversity"?--a new journal "publishing studies that examine the lived experiences of neurodiverse individuals, promote inclusive practices, and showcase innovative approaches to education, employment, and support"? https://t.co/UAAvN9ca8p autism-relevant
As an autistic person, an important part of my self-confidence journey has been recognising that my perspective is just as important as other people’s and other people seeing something one way doesn’t mean I have to or that my perspective is incorrect or not valid if it differs.
In a world full of systems designed for neurotypical people, Autistic people don’t need to work on their resilience. Some are already hugely more resilient than their peers by just getting through the day. Our blog post explains more - https://t.co/ZfiNTyBZX5 #Autism
Socks can be a lot to navigate when you’re Autistic. For me to feel comfortable wearing them, I have to make sure they’re positioned perfectly, have no areas where they’re out of shape, there’s a lack of material or even the smallest hole. And if they get even slightly wet… ugh!
Autistic people are often told they have a bad attitude when their attitude is fine, they simply: don’t tolerate discrimination; value ethics over hierarchy and conformity; dislike pretence; are honest; have succinct facial expressions; and/or have meltdowns when pushed too far.
Just waking up in the morning as an #ActuallyAutistic person is tiring. It requires more energy, thought, complex processes, and stress than it does for allistic people. THIS is exactly what contributes to #autism being a disability. It's also what people use to put us down.
Where my ladies at? Come see me perform this June with an incredibly talented group of women in a Rodgers & Hammerstein concert at the Museum of Tolerance here in Los Angeles! 🎫🎤Tickets are on sale now!

This statement is very true. Many late diagnosed adults also have collateral trauma from years of having their needs overlooked and mannerisms misunderstood.
Autistic people are so often ridiculed, bullied and made fun of for things like not understanding jokes, misinterpreting social cues and finding social situations difficult.
It’s no wonder we develop social anxiety. We are traumatised from growing up autistic.
Just bought textbooks for my classes in Shoah history

It fascinates me why a non-Autistic, non-ADHD, non-expert would feel they can offer insightful commentary on the rise in diagnoses. On what basis could they assert Autism and ADHD are over-diagnosed? Fewer diagnoses in the past could simply mean they were under-diagnosed before.
