Status vs Wealth 🧵
Most men are chasing the wrong thing.
Let me explain the difference between status and wealth — because confusing the two will cost you your life.
Status is a zero-sum game.
For you to have more, someone else must have less. You win by pushing others down. That's not ambition — that's sin.
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."— Philippians 2:3
Wealth is different.
Wealth can be accessed by all. It isn't taken from anyone. A rising tide lifts all boats.
God never called you to pursue status. Status is inherently self-serving — the opposite of what He commands.
And here's the brutal truth about status:
You cannot win.
Solomon — the richest, wisest man who ever lived — called it exactly what it is.
"I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; all is vanity and grasping for the wind."— Ecclesiastes 1:14
Why can't you win? Because the boss of status is God Himself.
Ultimate authority. Ultimate power. No competing with that.
"God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble."— James 4:6
So young man — pursue wealth, not status.
Look around you. Are you already wealthy?
Ask yourself honestly:
Do you want that car... or do you want it because someone else wants it?
"You shall not covet your neighbour's house."— Exodus 20:17
Think back to your first car.
Not a Lamborghini. A beat-up Honda. And yet — total freedom.
No more waiting on parents. No more asking for lifts. The whole world opened up.
That was wealth. A genuine step change in your ability to experience life.
Now ask — what's the real difference between a Honda Civic and a Lamborghini?
Both get you from A to B. Both are built from raw materials. Both break down.
One is wealth. One is status.
Only one of those will still matter in 10 years.
Don't blend the two.
Status lives in the eyes of others and dies with their attention.
Wealth lives in your life and compounds quietly.
"Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf."— Proverbs 11:28
You are living in a tiny blip of civilisation.
The people whose opinions drive your status decisions? Most won't matter to you in 5 years.
Build wealth. Live richly. Chase nothing that requires another man to lose.
That's the game worth playing. 🙏
@rationalaussie As an Australian Gen Z, my parents and grandparents that have enjoyed an uncommon 80 years of peace, making real estate prices rip higher over that period. The probability of another 80 years of peace without the bubble popping is unlikely. That's why I Bitcoin.
@elonmusk I downloaded twitter as of recent, and wish I did so earlier. Best social media app out there hands down. It actually adds value to your life. Thank you #ElonMusk
