PRESS RELEASE: Bill Yuen, office manager at London's Hong Kong Trade Office, has been found guilty of spying on Hong Kong pro-democracy advocates.

Yuen and his accomplice Peter Wai were found guilty of "assisting a foreign intelligence service" under the National Security Act.

CFHK Foundation Advocacy Manager Chloe Cheung (@Chloe_chc_25), who carries a £100,000 Hong Kong police bounty, said:

“We already knew that China is among the worst perpetrators of transnational repression targeting dissidents in the U.K — now it’s been proven that they were using the HKETO to do it. 

"The Government now has no choice but to put China in the enhanced tier of its Foreign Influence Registration Scheme.

“The HKETO is an outpost of Chinese Communist Party repression used to coordinate surveillance and intimidation operations. The office has no consular function and its diplomatic privileges should be revoked with immediate effect.”
