We’ve spent a decade staring at digital paper because it was "safe" for our processors. But now? The brakes are off.
Owo mmi, if the biggest names in tech are finally using all that power to bring "weight" back, what does that mean for your brand?
I’ll drop Part 2 shortly.
Note to self: The era of flat design is officially ending.
Since 2010s, we’ve lived in a world of 2D stickers. We stripped away the shadows and textures to make everything "clean," but really, we did it because our hardware couldn't handle the "real" stuff.
>>>A thread
@Apple is leaning into textures that behave like the physical world.
This isn’t just a trend for a few weeks. This is where the world of design is turning.
We’re moving toward Design with Feeling. Design that is real.
I’m looking at the latest moves from the giants, and the ground is shifting:
@Google is finally breaking their strict 4-color mandate for distinct shapes and deep gradients.
@Microsoft is trading those rigid panels for fluid, glowing layers.
But things have changed.
We finally have the computational power to handle high-fidelity details without the lag. We can render "Liquid Glass," real-time reflections, and complex physics right in the palm of our hands.
There’s a specific kind of fulfillment that comes when a client recognizes that your work isn't just about "pretty shapes," but about deep, intentional strategy.
