When I was in nursing school, I had a clinical instructor who I wanted to be like one day. Todays my first day in that role 6 years later. Thanks @tamu for helping that dream come true! Thanks and Gig ‘Em!
One of my patients got to go outside today, and felt sunshine for the first time in three months. Always find a way, you never know how life giving it could be.
Last night as a full time pediatric hematology oncology/ bone marrow transplant nurse. What gift to have cared for these brave littles while working alongside some of the most compassionate humans I know!
Things I didn’t expect: saying goodbye to patients and parents I’ve been treating for a year or more, and maybe one who has taught me more about being a human and a nurse together than anyone before 😭
Told a new resident that he was “da best” tonight, because I convinced him something was ridiculous and we didn’t need it. Slight persuasion with a side of logic and a hardy thank you, will get you some where at 5am.
Very inconveniently driving ten hours in 3 days, to help someone important say goodbye to their important someone. Because once you experience the grief yourself, you know the value of a hug or presence is worth every inconvenience.
A parent told me tonight that my words on the night of her child’s cancer diagnoses helped change her outlook and decide what kind of parent she was going to be through a life changing diagnoses. Those might be the kindest words anyone has ever told me.
