Population synchrony led to greater variability in Chinook salmon ocean abundance. These fluctuations are on a scale relevant to predators and ocean fisheries and decrease the Chinook salmon available to these resource users.

@genoa_sully just pub'd a terrific paper considering the causes and consequences of increasingly synchronous ocean #salmon distributions for people and fish-eating killer whales. the take-home? we need mgmt + conservation actions that reduce spatial synchrony @NOAAFish_NWFSC
