Saudi Arabia Sentenced a Sri Lankan Worker to Death Under Islam for a Facebook Comment. His Mother Is Begging for His Life.
Anojan Sivarasa, 24, from Kalmunai in eastern Sri Lanka, was working in Saudi Arabia. He was arrested in July after a Facebook argument.
A user posted a remark about a Hindu deity.
Sivarasa answered in Tamil with a comment about Prophet Muhammad. He deleted it and posted an apology. Screenshots still went to his employer, then to Saudi authorities.
The Al-Ahsa Criminal Court first gave him five years and a fine of 3 million riyals, about $800,000, under the cybercrime law.
The appellate court sentenced him to death for insulting Islam and the Prophet.
His mother told officials: “Please pardon my son and return him to me alive; or we all will have to die.”

Despite the attack on NDC Enugu State, they refused to be intimidated and still held their programme.
Well done to our incoming governor @SirChinyeaka for showing leadership and courage.
Ndigbo, Ndi Enugu, biko, keep sharing this video! 🙏 We need to reach Mama.
We are simply asking for justice for Mama. We are asking for justice for this woman.
The accusation is based on what people say and what they claim happened, but where is the evidence? An accusation alone should not be enough to condemn anyone.
Biko, help us find this woman. She may have nobody to speak up for her. She may be a woman without a husband or children to stand by her in this difficult time.
Let us be her voice. Let us help her get the attention she deserves.
Ndigbo, biko, keep sharing until this message reaches Mama. She deserves to be heard, and everyone deserves a fair chance to defend themselves. 🙏
