Writer, reader, wonderer, former soldier, professor, student of intelligence. Recent books on politicization of US intel and dysfunctions of DEI policies.
My article on how Presidents Obama & Biden politicized US intelligence by injecting DEI ideology into agencies’ organizational cultures is newly published in Comparative Strategy -- Culture: A new venue for the politicization of intelligence
Socialist Irving Howe once referred to the “special barriers of the Marxist vocabulary,” such as their purposeful abuse of the term “democracy.” The Red Army imposed “people’s democracies” on Eastern Europe after WWII. And there is “democratic socialism.”
Dems like Senator Warner & Rep Himes decry Trump admin politicization of intel, a classic case of “projection”—accusing others of doing what you do yourself. My article on how Obama & Biden used DEI to politicize organizational cultures of intel agencies will be published soon.
Comey’s indictments re testimony resemble charges against mobsters—tax violations, not extortion or murder. The FBI Deep State was politically active in 2016-2024. Legislation is needed to address inappropriate actions, not just symptoms. Perhaps a much-strengthened Hatch Act.
CIA’s last Chief Diversity Officer, Jerry Laurienti, is now a “visiting lecturer” at The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M.
He has sanitized his bio to erase his DEI record.
@CIADirector should fully separate CIA from Laurienti.

Leftists amusingly complain that a few fellow radicals who cheered Charlie Kirk’s murder have been “canceled.” Leftists invented cancel culture, damaging many people in recent years. Georgetown U. canceled me for a non-PC article published in a peer-reviewed academic journal.
CIA chief diversity officer Jerry Laurienti told a DoD audience in May 2024 that he monitored senior executive promotion boards, replaced selectees not adequately committed to DEI with DEI backers -- a clear statement that ideology trumped competence in Biden’s CIA.
DIA director Kruse has been relieved. The MSM say it was retribution for DIA analyses Trump did not like. Maybe. I am told Kruse had DIA security watch Trump rallies in 2024, looking for DIA employees. If seen, they were fired. If true, this alone is a good reason to can Kruse.
The US is one of the few countries that has never purged its intel services. A few firings don’t count. Per my study: the most common reason for sharply reducing or eliminating intel agencies is overt opposition to legitimate political leaders. This should not be surprising.
The charge that HPSCI chief Rep Schiff leaked is serious & should be fully investigated. Reality Winner got 63 months in prison for leaking anti-Trump NSA material. Schiff was caught red-handed lying about helping the CIA “whistleblower” who led to Trump’s first impeachment.
Ya gotta love the nerve of long-time intel critics of Trump, some of whom admitted publicizing leaked info, who now complain that sanitized document releases of their possible perfidy might, maybe, lead to release of classified info. Innuendo is an weak argumentative technique.
Someone asked (roughly): Is partisanship-motivated leaking by intel officers ever justified? I say no, not yet anyway. Many protected whistleblower venues include going to HPSCI & SSCI. Anti-Trump Deep Staters are using new venues & PR techniques v. 2016-21. More on these later.
Whether DNI Gabbard is using intel for partisan purposes, not restoring the ethic of apolitical public service Obama-era officials badly damaged, is an open question. But emotional reactions/claims of Sen. Warner & others to Russiagate releases suggest panic & are not credible.
This may be a good time for a sophisticated effort to suggest to Iranians that changing their form of government soon would be good for them. Too bad the Trump administration gutted US public diplomacy means. As US adversaries know, information is a key national security tool.
Diplomats and losers chronically seek ceasefires in wars, including now. Premature truces do not resolve core disagreements. But decisive wars like WWII leave little doubt about resolutions to contentious issues. Per Edward Luttwak, sometimes it is best to “give war a chance.”
Anti-Trump activism by intel officers is different now than in 2017. Fewer old “formers” whine on CNN and leaking seems to be down from 2017-21, though up from 2024. Why? Maybe because Trumpers now are pursuing leakers, making leaking more dangerous.
Most university libraries still prominently promote DEI in their policy statements. It’s time to address libraries as quiet DEI indoctrinators. Libraries: The Quiet DEI Indoctrinators — Minding The Campus
Intel leakers violate one or both of two laws—the Espionage Act & Hatch Act of 1939, which bans govt employees from partisan politics. “Leaks” of disinformation, aka Hatch Act violations, were common in 2017-21 and seem to be occurring again. Leaking NOT a free speech right.

People upset by the firing squad execution in SC on Friday might recall that the USSR so executed millions of people, others by a single shot to the back of the head. The latter made less mess, important when serial, extra-judicial executions were routine.
