@RNA33@coolmike1980 We had conversations and Dale was great and open to talk to. Coyne was a welcoming team for many rookies over the years and he gave many drivers their first chance, but I did hope to move to a larger team in ‘04. Had discussions for ‘04 and ‘05 but they didn’t come to be.
@RNA33@coolmike1980@IndyPix90 In 2003 I finished in the points in 3 races, Denver (12th), Miami (10th), and Surfers (9th). Gaulter also finished in the points 3 times that season (a 12th, 11th, and 6th). He was a great teammate and super nice guy.
@coolmike1980@IndyPix90 All good and thanks for the response. I agree, Dale and team off to a nice start. He was a true gentleman when I drove for him and I have huge respect for he and his crew. Wishing them the best! Thanks for Toronto note - great memories!
@coolmike1980@IndyPix90 Happy to discuss challenges of driving for such a small team as a rookie in ‘03. Always much more going on behind the scenes. I made my share of mistakes, but a tough season. Luiz Garcia is a good guy, raced against in Indy Lights. Both also drove for Dale Coyne.
@RNA33@IndyCaronNBC Thanks. Scored points in a few races but a difficult season, no doubt. The Coyne guys (and Dale) were great but we lacked much in engineering, parts, etc that it was what it was. I made a few mistakes as well (Vancouver!) but wouldn’t trade the experience. All the best, GB
@IndyCastBrasil@BenCollinsStig Ben was one of the first drivers to congratulate me on my win in Toronto that season. He was genuine in his excitement for me and I never forgot his sign of respect and sportsmanship. A great racer who I admire immensely.
@ChampCar4Ever Thanks guys! A big team effort that weekend, especially from race engineer Burke Harrison and driving coach Jeremy Dale. Great car from the start on Friday right through Sunday.
@RevLimitBryan @Poppy_Banty Very intense. Big respect for all drivers involved, but Guy and I knew the Lights car. Fastest driver was to get the seat for ‘99, I was told. I was quickest. Tasman asked for another test, this time at Sebring. I said no, as that wasn’t the agreement. Tough business sometimes.
