BCA Press Conf:
Peter: The question I want to ask is, is why would a business pay higher wages if they don’t have to?
Jennifer: Well, .. they pay higher wages because the agreement they’ve reached with their union.

Shorter @PressClubAust address by Israeli ambassador:
1. We did nothing wrong
2. Accidents happen
3. Our photos are real
4. Your photos are fake
5. It’s all Iran’s fault anyway
Coorey, Sheridan, Savva, led by Speers then interviewing Hastie will provide today’s “balanced” ABC assessment of Australian politics.
Should be a hoot! #insiders
@DougCameron51@cambo5157 The stated “excuse” of the Hertzog event at the ICC as the rationale for denying a permit to march from Town Hall to Parliament and the subsequent decision to forcibly disperse the protesters beggars belief. The ICC and Parliament House are in opposite directions from Town Hall.
20% of the housing stock in the 60s was public housing. That kept a lid on both rents and house prices for the boomers (like me). It’s time to reinvest in public housing for today’s working families.

“One out, all out.” Kevin Hogan from the Nats declares support for collective action on #abc730
Does this mean that the LNP war on union members is over? #AusUnions
Phil Coorey mouthing neo-con econobabble about subsidised child care being unproductive and higher wages for early childhood educators stealing workers from the private sector. Misses the point about quality child care lifting workforce participation. #insiders
@mattmua72 If they are faced with a $120k tax bill on the balance over $3m, then the super fund is making $800k p.a. and they are keeping over $600k (+10% net return).
Where’s their problem?
Explains the “Make Australia Happy Again” (variation on reported Make Australia Smile Again) lines I heard from those in blue shirts in Richmond NSW at pre-poll the other day. Whether the war cry is MAHA or MASA , it is scarily close to Trump’s MAGA.

🚨The Exclusive Brethren, a secretive sect that shuns voting, is covertly campaigning for the Coalition marginal seats.
Multiple reports of hundreds of brethren members telling voters to “Make Australia Smile Again”.
What do they hope to get in return?

According to Peter Dutton’s candidate for the must-win seat of Braddon, employers should be able to pay older workers $10 an hour to pick fruit and vegetables. More proof of what we always knew – Dutton will wind back Labor’s workplace laws and cut your pay.
@TonySheldonNSW Or is it just the way the LNP counts? Joh Bjelke-Petersen did it this way for years and is reported to have once said, “We’ll hold the election as soon as we know who won.”
So Dutton commits $21 billion more in unspecified defence spending while the LNP confirms:
- increasing income tax
- abandoning Labor’s 20% HECS debt reduction
- increasing child care costs for young families
Does he still pretend to care about cost of living?
#DontRiskDutton
I may be old fashioned but I thought that your income might be relevant in a cost of living election. Nevertheless NINE’s #GreatDebate runs for 75 minutes without a single question from the network’s panel of 4 in-house “journalists” about wages or workers’ rights. Why?
The Coalition have preferenced One Nation ahead of ALP in 139 out of 147 seats.
John Howard put One Nation last and Scott Morrison put them below Labor in every seat in 2019.
Dutton’s Coalition has done a comprehensive nationwide preference deal with One Nation.
