Steve Kerr spoke for less than three minutes at his pregame presser. He started out by saying since this morning, nothing has changed with his team, but 14 kids & 1 teacher had been murdered. He also referenced the Buffalo shooting and the Taiwanese church shooting in SoCal
When I see something moving slowly in a company it's almost always the result of:
* Unclear ownership (who is responsible for this?)
* Unclear authority (who makes this decision?)
* Implicit lack of permission to do whatever needs to happen to clear any blockers
Maybe I’m too sensitive but there’s a set of ego centric phrases people use that I find so off putting — “my team” “he worked for me” etc.
If you’re part of a team talk like you’re part of a team.
When I was young I thought management was about distribution/delegation of responsibilities. I now realize it is truly about the maintenance of morale and motivation. Morale and motivation are moving targets that require consistent and proactive effort to maintain.
