@jurassicg1rl@PooleMuseum@archaeologyuk Did Martin show you round the museum? Plenty of archaeological artefacts have been found over the years. There are (or were) woad plants growing around the site. BU were also kindly allowed to use part of the site for forensic exercises in the past.
@TEC_Kimmeridge It's an Ammonite (extinct marine cephlapod), relative of the more primitive Nautilis (extanct). A predator of Jurassic and Cretaceous seas, but also predated upon by Ichthyosaurs. The body would have sat in the last chamber, with tentacles facing outwards.
@EAGeomorphology@BSG_Geomorph Really wish I could have been there, but…. Anyway, haven’t Geomorphologists always used their intuition? Just we now have the theory and tools to support our intuition and the science to back it up.
Mass movements like this are becoming increasingly common as the #ClimateEmergency drives more extreme rainfall patterns.
It's critical we factor landscape change into our land use planning and risk management, coupling #hydrology with #geomorphology.
@theAliceRoberts 73?…best year ever! Happy Birthday!
As for the comment, I’m not a professor (not even a “pretend” one, whatever that is), but I have worked in academia and know how much work is involved, even to be a lecturer, let alone a professor!
Today, landowner John Price was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for the destruction of 1.5km of the protected River Lugg.
Together with @NaturalEngland, we welcome this sentence and will continue to work hard to restore the health of our rivers.
