Bondhusbreen (Bondhus glacier), an offshoot of the Folgefonna glacier, from Bondhusvatnet (Lake Bondhus). Magnificent, but climate change has really had an impact. #glaciar#norway#climatechange#glacialretreat .
First Tweet in a long time, so thought I would just post a nice geological photo... a favourite of mine from June 2008, the Cascade Range giant that is Mt Rainier (4392m), WA, from the air. Enjoy! @MountRainierNPS#geology
@Landofthegonds@PDS_Ava Apologies for the very slow reply... the Ladies Cave anticline is on the beach south of the harbour in Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire, Wales (N 51°42.400', W -4°41.701'). Please note that the outcrop is only safely accessible at low tide. Enjoy!
As a hard rock pmag PhD student I knew very little about petroleum geology coming into the petroleum industry... so I taught myself (with a little help!) the basics of well log analysis and wrote a little 'eGuide' so I wouldn't forget what I'd learned. Enjoy! #well_log_analysis
To fully understand the nature & quality of an asset, geologists need to have a good handle of the data required & how best to use it.
That's why we've created this four part Guide to Geophysical Well Log Analysis.

Yes! Let's celebrate a #womeninscience who not only helped advance the field of palaeontology but who also had to contend with the scientific community of her day to be recognised for her significant contributions to geoscience. @EarthSciPlymUni , you with us!?
And not wanting to be outdone by their neighbours, the people of Sassoferrato incorporated the local geology into the defensive fortifications of the 14th century Rocca di Albornoz. #urbangeology#holidaygeology .
Holiday geology... not wanting to destroy such beautiful outcrops, these wise (clearly geologically minded) Italians incorporated them into their homes... #geologistgoals ! Genga, Italy.
Introducing Ava Saturation... software to optimise the saturation modelling workflow. Fast. Intuitive. Reproducible. Auditable.
Get in touch if you'd like a sneak peek before we officially launch at AAPG ACE (Salt Lake City) in May!

And a few more (still catching up!)... faults and fossils in the Middle Devonian (Eifelian) Daddyhole Limestone at Hope's Nose, Torquay. Shallow-marine carbonate beds packed with reef forming corals and shell fragments, plus some great slickenfibres! #fossils#slickenfibres
A couple more from last week... here we had a look at the Permian aeolian (and a little fluvial) deposits of the Dawlish Sandstone Fm. (New Red Sandstone). Cross-bedded sandstones with thin lenses/beds of breccia and mudstone. #red
A great mix of palaeontology (thanks to @etchescollect for the tour!) and structural geology at Kimmeridge Bay. Here a superb Late Jurassic ichthyosaur fossil and normal fault in the Kimmeridgian rocks. @jurassic_coast
Really enjoyed helping @Royal_Russell A level students on their Devon/Dorset fieldtrip with teacher Martin Tanner (Head of Geology) last week. Here at the Zig Zag quarry (Newton Abbot) we looked at the Tertiary fluvial deposits of the Aller Gravel Fm.
