Here in East Lothian, Torness shows nuclear can bring Scotland reliable power & skilled jobs. The UK Labour Govt is backing a new age of nuclear and thousands of jobs in England. It's time for the SNP Scottish Govt to reconsider its position so that Scotland doesn’t miss out.
@Hamill2086John@DealyPlazaEcho Arrogance, pride and he doesn’t like criticism or being called out for being consistently out of step with the Scottish people.

Hitler's 'Eagle's Nest' retreat set on fire
German police said they had detained a suspect after a fire at Adolf Hitler’s former mountain retreat, known as the Eagle’s Nest, in the state of Bavaria.
About 200 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze at the Nazi dictator’s remote and difficult-to-access Kehlsteinhaus residence, on the peak of Obersalzberg in southern Germany.
Firefighters saw flames rising high into the air as they approached the scene, only to find the building “completely ablaze”, police said.
“A suspicious person was taken into temporary custody,” they said in a later statement, adding that nobody was injured in the blaze.
Police spokesperson Lisa Maier said firefighters struggled to tackle the fire due to its location at an altitude of 1,834 metres (6,000 feet).
The building was only accessible with “heavy breathing apparatus”, she said.
Authorities were alerted to the fire on Friday evening, when a smoke detector triggered a fire alarm at about 9.50pm (1950 GMT), police said.
No potential reason for the fire was given, but the German media reported that the investigators suspected it was the result of arson.
As snow fell on the Alpine peak, the Eagle’s Nest was still engulfed in flames in the early hours of today, Saturday, a weather camera showed.
German tabloid Bild reported that the authorities had arrested a motorcyclist they came across on their way to the scene.
Built between 1937 and 1938, the Eagle’s Nest forms part of the toxic legacy of Hitler’s Third Reich, which was responsible for the deaths of millions of Jews as well as Roma, LGBTQ people and Communists in the Holocaust.
It was designed to serve as a monument to Hitler’s rule, although the dictator rarely visited the complex.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Your average Scottish unionist will talk about a 'once in a generation' vote (referendum) whilst voting for their 7th prime minister or 8th. I’ve lost count. Mikey
@BBCScotlandNews You are so intent on rubbishing the proposal that you have jumped on the "England is better" bandwagon.
And totally ignored the publicly owned and thriving Edinburgh public transport system.
INDEPENDENCE - YOU 'YES' YET?
From John Pinkerton's 'History of Scotland':
"But the Highlanders … [are] so contaminated with a Celtic mixture in Ireland, that … in laziness, filth, and every species of savageness, they have been always hardly distinguishable from the savages of Ireland. In all ages of our history they are marked as the savages of Scotland."
More proof Scotland was colonised from 1707.

England's government to keep a tight grip on the lion's share of Scotland's taxes and natural resources as the UK's debt passes £3 trillion.
England's Treasury ran a higher than expected budget deficit of £24.5bn last month as rising inflation pushed up the interest paid on UK government debt, increasing pressure on John Healey before his first budget next Wednesday.
Official figures out this morning show the government paid £10.9bn in debt interest: the highest September figure since records began, and only the eighth time the monthly number has been above £10bn.
Some government bonds are directly linked to the retail prices index measure of inflation, with payments rising in line with it. RPI has increased in recent months as the Iran war has pushed up energy costs. The Office for National Statistics said this had added £4bn to debt interest costs in September alone.
Total government debt is estimated to have hit £3tn for the first time – although as a share of the size of the economy it has fallen to 94%, from 95% a year ago.
The £24.5bn monthly deficit on the public finances was up from £17bn in August, and £1.9bn higher than the independent Office for Budget Responsibility had forecast.
In the financial year so far, public sector net borrowing is £97.8bn, the ONS said – £4.4bn lower than last year but still £6bn higher than the OBR expected.
The data underlines the impact of the Iran war on the public finances, before next Wednesday’s budget. But we can expect more sharp increases in the prices of petrol and food.

Chancellor signals he is at odds with steer left Hotairman's 'let's help the people' outlook
"I want to be a chancellor who backs business in Britain making a profit [but not Scotland where we cancel investment] and entrepreneurs who, in the end, are the ones who challenge the status quo, come up with innovative ideas and are trying, some of them through sheer bloody-mindedness, to keep going through these sorts of pressures …" Lovely chap, is Mr Healey.
Interpretation: If you're not making big profits you are not ripping off the public enough.

"Is that why the Scottish Peerages became British Peerages when England & Scotland merged and members of British Royalty had Scottish roots including the first King of the joint Crown, King James VI & I?" Mr Dumbass
No. You are indulging in historical fantasy. There is no king of Scotland, Mr Dumbass.
Until and including WW1 we fought for England's interests. "England expects that every man will do his duty", (Nelson) and "There's some corner of a foreign field forever England". (Brooke)
The slaughter in WWI caused by incompetent generals was so great, our people so scunnered by it, our oppressor had to find a new reason to encourage us to join up for WWII. We were asked to fight for Britain, an artificial construct.
Be careful next time you think of posting guff. Some of us know English history better than the English. After all, your elders taught us it.
