Gentle reminder that as demonstrated by His Majesty and the Archbishop of Canterbury in recent days, saving the bees is not only good politics and diplomacy, but one of humanity's most important tasks.
Always save the bees🟡⚫️
Peak beeplomacy. The King also produces his own honey in the Buckingham Palace grounds, which he gifts to dignitaries. Ditto also Chevening - the Foreign Secretary’s country residence - which produces lovely honey which I’ve tried.
Amazing how often food becomes one of the main aspects of the soft diplomacy on these occasions

I extend my sincere thanks to my dear Mayor colleagues from Europe for their strong statement on recent developments in my beloved country, upon the initiative of Mayor Anne Hidalgo of Paris.
Together we will defend democracy and justice across Europe.

@TheSmallPlaces The question almost becomes 'how effective are judicial review proceedings in managing cases involving vulnerable individuals.'
Based on my research, let alone my experience, these circumstances are common and I truly hope this challenge is fruitful in Sophie's case.
@TheSmallPlaces The frustrating part of cases of this nature in NI especially is navigating the arguments of prematurity/satellite litigation/alternative remedy which emerge in judicial review proceedings.
My own research has found a lot of similar where the court could act, but elect not to.
@DrOliverLewis Looking at this purely through a medical lens is equally problematic.
Just because *some* doctors may understand the legislation, it doesn't mean social workers, nurses, care assistants etc who are equally vital appreciate the challenges of applying these laws.
The Bar of NI celebrates female King's Counsel (KC) in Northern Ireland through a permanent photographic portrait exhibition in the Bar Library.
The title of KC is awarded to barristers deemed to have excelled in the conduct of legal advocacy.
The exhibition celebrates the achievement of our female KCs in a profession that was dominated by men across the decades. It provides visibility, offering inspiration to the next generation of female leaders in legal excellence.
The portraits of 12 female KCs who took silk in February 2024 were recently added to the exhibition.

Huge thanks to @law_IALT for letting me present my paper entitled 'The Implementation Challenges of the Mental Capacity (NI) Act 2016: Where Do We Stand Eight Years On?' this morning.
Looking forward to incorporating the very helpful feedback in the article! @UniofGalwayLaw
@TheSmallPlaces I would capture the neatest description as hybrid, but if asked to place this realm of law in one of the binaries I would view practice as concerning a public law exercise.
Access to justice is in crisis.
Criminal cases have become more complex & require unsustainable levels of time & skill from practitioners.
Yet fees remain stuck since 2005 and payment delays applied to barristers lengthen and now stretch to around 14-16 weeks.
As criminal barristers reluctantly withdraw services, we demand urgent action on fair fees from @Justice_NI to preserve the precious public asset that is our Justice system.
#AccessToJusticeInCrisis
Once again I encourage those with information or who witnessed these brutal attacks to report to 101.
We cannot allow residents to live in fear of their beloved pets being harmed.
