The #Monarch team amped up the monster mayhem for S2 with a mix of returning fan-favorite superspecies and new creatures, while also adapting two monsters from the comics for the first time. Excited for fans to see what's coming next in the Monsterverse 👀 https://t.co/1ik0rWah4v
Legends have been told of a mysterious Titan that resides in a state of pyrostasis within active volcanoes.
The myths speak of it as the "Fire Demon" or "The One Born of Fire", but a simpler name echoes through the ancient temples of volcanically active regions: Rodan.
File: Titan X/Co-Cai
Classification: Titan
Field Notes: Worshipped as “Co-Cai” by the Santa Soledad villagers, Titan X is an oceanic alpha-class organism of incomprehensible scale. First recorded by Monarch in the 1950s, its biology fuses cephalopodic morphology with traits of deep-sea leviathans, its body encased in radiant blue bioluminescent lines that pulse like a heartbeat.
Unlike other apex Titans, Titan X exhibits a symbiotic relationship with smaller lifeforms: namely the Scarab colonies that enshroud it. The creature’s emergence patterns suggest migratory cycles linked to geothermal rifts and magnetic anomalies. To those who have seen it rise from the sea, Titan X is neither predator nor god, but the living pulse of the planet itself.
File: Stampede Caterpillar
Classification: Superspecies
Field Notes: A massive multi-limbed megafauna native to Skull Island, Stampede Caterpillars take their name from the tremors caused by their vast migrations through the island’s jungles and plains. Their sinuous green bodies are lined with a cluster of black eyes and rows of elongated spines that provide traction while rolling, and can destroy anything in their path.
When alarmed, an individual creature coils upon itself, its dorsal spikes locking outward to form a spiked wheel. Entire herds roll together in synchronized flight, thundering across the terrain like living storms. Monarch biologists believe this reflexive behavior evolved as both defense and migration, triggered by seismic or Titan activity. When the herds roll, the jungle itself seems to thunder in retreat.
I love how they're incorporating elements from the films, the fact you can see a crashed Helicopter from the 1973 expedition is CRAZY! #MonarchLegacyofMonsters2
File: Vinestrangler
Classification: Superspecies
Field Notes: Native to the dense jungles surrounding the Skull Island river valleys, the Vinestrangler (Vitis Strangulari) blurs the boundary between insect and vegetation. Classified as florafauna within the ancient Tettigoniidae lineage, its leafy carapace and bark-like limbs weave seamlessly into the surrounding branches, rendering it indistinguishable from the trees that shelter it. To the untrained eye, a Vinestrangler appears to be part of the forest itself…until it moves.
Within the torso of the Vinestrangler lies a tightly wound mesh of reticulated tentacles. Any unfortunate life-form that walks beneath the branches of its host tree triggers vibrations within its roots that are immediately sent to the nervous system of the Vinestrangler, ensnaring its prey in a tangle of pulsing muscular tendrils. These tendrils then draw the victim up into its open belly, where it is slowly digested for up to seventy-two hours. Monarch field agents describe the aftermath as “a tree that devours.” For the Vinestrangler, patience is both camouflage and weapon.
File: Scarab
Classification: Superspecies
Field Notes: First observed by Monarch operatives during the 1957 Santa Soledad event, the Scarabs are an arthropodic swarm organism that exist in direct biological resonance with Titan X. These bioluminescent creatures erupt from beneath the earth in conjunction with Titan X’s emergence, drawn to its energy signature as though to a gravitational source.
The Scarabs are a singular symbiotic species, their life cycle bound entirely to Titan X’s own: when Titan X surfaces, they awaken. Each individual Scarab carries ionized fluids that glow blue-white when near its host, the collective forming a living corona of light around Titan X’s massive body. Monarch’s official analysis indicates they are less an independent species than an external organ of Titan X herself: a swarm that embodies the heartbeat of their queen.
