@TheLongSlowRun@irishpeloton Is ChatGPT on the byline or was it written before Katie Archibald broke her leg and Tom Pidcock left the Tour? As I say, it shouldn’t have been published on BikeRadar with those errors – that’s a poor and uncharacteristic mistake – but that doesn’t mean it was written by AI.
@irishpeloton@TheLongSlowRun That is a mistake on our part and one I wasn’t aware of. The article was originally published in Cycling Plus magazine but wasn’t checked to the appropriate level before going online. I’ve now edited the piece. We take quality and attention to detail very seriously, though.
@JWTelegraph Southampton’s execution here is very good but the tactic - and change in mindset - has been common through many clubs in the Championship this season.
@henrywismayer I’m an editor, not freelance (though have been) & it’s one of the reasons why we have consistent rates for print/digi. If we commission for one platform then can/do use it on another, but the word rate for the original commission is the same. I’d expect to be paid the difference
@gianmerced@lilyraynyc@TravelLeisure Agreed, that looks like a key area of improvement (& an ask in Google’s guidelines) to show genuine hands-on experience. The personal touch in the H1 & intro is smart, but with stock images & copy that’s largely product specs or broad brush analysis, there’s a ? over authenticity
@lr_jordan Opinion is inevitably an important part of a review - or, specifically, the writing of a review - but comes as a results of process (crucially, point 1 - evaluating from a user’s perspective, not just your own), expertise and experience, not as a starting point.
@lr_jordan The word ‘opinion’ may not be explicitly used but there’s plenty in those guidelines that says as much and more: evaluation, quantitative measurement, research-based benefits & drawbacks etc.
Come and work for BikeRadar! We’re looking for a Social Media Executive. This is an exciting new role in the team and a chance for someone to put their stamp on how we ‘do social’. That is to say, much better than me.

Can only echo the disappointment & sadness of others at the redundancies at CyclingTips & Velonews. People I (& the BikeRadar team) have admired from afar. Excellent editors & journalists who will, no doubt, come back stronger. But a horrible position to be in nonetheless.
