What are some ways to get students talking about math from a conceptual perspective in the k-12 setting? The first things that come to mind are number talks and 3-act tasks. Any other recommendations? #MTBoS#iteachmath
@alexisnoelleb Georgia Numeracy Project might be helpful here. Slide 20 has the links. Cause for Concern (Tier 2) Numeracy Activities and At-Risk (Tier 3) Numeracy Activities or Activities Resource Book. https://t.co/46DyADawW5
@techknowmath@pgliljedahl Thanks! Would you say you use BTC daily? Could you tell me about how it has shaped other instructional practices such as assessments and homework?

@Lauren18321679 I just started it. Do you run your class using this group problem-solving philosophy daily? Have your assessments changed with your adoption of BTC?
@AntoinetteSTEAM@STEAMTEAMS1@WeAreTeachers@ARTiSTEAMs I like this idea! I don’t know about copyright law for art, but could you use a photo editing tool to change the contrast/highlights/shadows on the picture and then let them create problems.
@AntoinetteSTEAM That’s a great point—are we trying to cover material as a checklist or are we looking for conceptual understanding? Thanks for sharing!
Thinking ab getting S to develop a representation of big & small numbers as intro to Sci. Not. in the future. It’s a topic I don’t love teaching & I feel like this will help them make it their own & I’ll enjoy teaching it more. Anyone done something similar? #mtbos#iteachmath
@SpiveyEducation I like it! Exponential functions offer so many applications. I feel like you could have some interesting conversations about why exponential functions with greater exponents tend to offer better models for a set of data.
@MissKMaths Such a great point! The applications of division are all over! Unit rate and slope are two things that immediately come to mind that are applications of division. Thanks for sharing!
