I have to admit I was wrong about this. I am on record saying The Odyssey might have been better served by a different title.

What I underestimated was the film’s ability to send people back to Homer. Seeing readers pick up The Odyssey, explore classical literature, and even develop a new interest in epic poetry is a cultural win worth celebrating.

A blockbuster that sends people searching for a 2,700-year-old poem has accomplished something far more interesting than box-office success.

Yes, both my beautiful fiancée, @AlyssaRosenheck, and I had books come out this week, on the same day, actually. Mine is 20 Times I Almost Died. Hers is White, Blonde, Jew, and it is a must-read.

I am incredibly proud of her. I know the fight it took to secure another book deal after her first was canceled, then to write, publish, and even launch this book. Her bookstore launch was canceled after a hate campaign. But she cannot be canceled and will not be canceled.

I am deeply grateful for everyone who has supported us and stood against the hate. Go buy both books and leave us Amazon reviews!

The tattoo thing is completely out of control. A majority of women between the ages of 18 and 49 now have tattoos. I have tattoos and I'm here to tell you it isn't worth it. I don't hate my tattoos or necessarily regret them. I feel fine about them. But feeling fine about your tattoos 18 years later is basically the best case scenario. That's the tattoo ceiling. At best it will be something you don't necessarily hate in a couple of decades. The floor is much, much lower. There is basically no scenario where you'll wake up every day for the next six decades thanking God that you have your tattoos. You'll either be totally humiliated by them down the line (which a lot of people are), or at best you'll be kind of ambivalent. Not a wise investment. Upside isn't nearly high enough to justify a permanent decision.
