We believe that given the tools and opportunity, small groups of individuals can change the things that they believe need changing in their community better than anyone else. Find out about our work to empower communities to achieve this here: https://t.co/DJrtVgV0Qz #ABCDinleeds
We know sometimes it's hard to find the exact right words to say to someone when they’re having a rough time. Remember the most important thing is showing that you’re there and you care. If you can that get across – that’s enough.
Open this for some message examples 👇🧵
We’ve tried a centralised, state-led approach.
We’ve tried a privatised, market-led approach.
They’re not working. We need a new approach – empower communities to lead.

Visited the photovoice exhibition this afternoon at Dewsbury Town Hall 📸 Kirklees College students have been sharing their perspectives on what a good life means to them.
Such a creative and accesible way for people to have a voice and tell their story 💛
New crochet group every Thursday 12-2pm at the Greenwood Centre, Ravensthorpe. Come and connect with members of your community whilst learning how to crochet! The group is free of charge and there is currently no end date 💛

Today in Stirling an 87 yr old man with dementia was reading a book to a 93 yr old neighbour because she can't see the words anymore.
There's no "service" that could replicate the relationship, connection & care created here.
*Everyone* has something to give to their neighbour.
Never underestimate the power of 'just having' a cup of tea or coffee (or other beverage, of which there are many and we don't have the space to name, oh go on then Horlicks).

The roadshow brought people together to share their lived experiences, help reduce stigma and encourage conversations.
There’s still chance for you to visit the roadshow, you can find the list of dates and venues here: https://t.co/cLeJpXOIRq
Today I spent the morning at the Kirklees Suicide Memorial and Bereavement Quilts Roadshow, hosted at Ravensthorpe Community Centre. The quilts beautifully represented loved ones people had lost, and carried positive messages of treasuring memories with that person 💛
This is a great opportunity to find out what support and activities are available, but also to meet other parents and share your experiences!

This week is @LACNetworkUK week! Our network has been sharing some great insights from Local Area Coordination and I wanted to share a few things too...
Since starting the role in May, it's been a pleasure being alongside and seeing people grow in the community.
“It's honestly been a refreshing time in the community since we've had a Local Area Coordinator, hopefully many more people's lives are changed for the better because of this work!"
