@DefendTheR@jordynbtw @Marner2Mars @Kyle_Cush In Sceptres defence for the slight attendance dip, both of the Sceptres playoff home games were on the same night the Toronto Maple Leafs had playoff home games and as popular as the PWHL is in Toronto, the Leafs will always take priority if it’s playoff season.
@alyssalerae I have ptsd from that day. I remember being in one of my classes at Humber and one of my friends in my program who knew I liked women’s sports and hockey was like “hey…did you hear the news?” 🫠
Hey @HockeyCanada, remember how the women’s national team just won another world championship and you didn’t even sell a shirt or make anything to celebrate it? Pretty disheartening to go on your online store and have the homepage advertise gear for the men’s world championship.
If you’re not listening to @juliatocheri and @Tessab25 cover all things @thepwhlofficial on the @JocksInJills podcast, what are you even doing? It’s been so fun to get their perspective each week and the playoff pods have been amazing!
With @VivianneMiedema leaving my beloved @ArsenalWFC at the end of the season, I’ll definitely cherish her autograph that I pulled from a box of UWCL cards earlier this year. What a player for this club and what a legacy she leaves behind ❤️
@Phlebiacclown I closed comments because I was sick of assholes talking shit about people enjoying a sports team and having fun. The internet is negative enough and I don’t need any more of it on what I post on MY account. Why does it bother you that I closed comments?
@MOONDAWG_1 I turned off replies because too many people were leaving rude/misogynistic comments and taking away from the fun we all had after the game last night celebrating a good win. It’s my video and I don’t want any of that 😕 There’s enough of it on social media already.
@monfortonleafs @PWHL_Toronto The fact that you’ve only heard good things makes me happy! Unfortunately there’s a lot of folks on this platform and social media in general who only tear the league down and these athletes down.
Growing up in Canada, my knowledge of female athletes only went as far as the summer and winter Olympics. There was no other platform for them to perform. If you had told me back then that women’s sports would grow to what they are now, I might not believe you. It’s amazing 🥹
@C_Mingo11 Oh yeah, there was a narrative going around that it would be tough for the PWHL to call it home because they wouldn’t be allowed to do any big renovations or change too many things. I never looked into it in detail to be honest but a few people had brought that up.
So if Toronto is getting a WNBA team that will play out of Coca-Cola Coliseum, that means the PWHL team can play their games there too, right? Any talk of “it’s a historical building and nothing can be changed” means nothing now if they’re making it a basketball playable arena…
