Imagine this scene at the hospital : “You’ve fractured your leg we will put you on a waiting list for treatment , give you a number to call & some self help leaflets. Doing a jigsaw & having a cup of tea will help” This is what happens daily to people needing MH treatment.
@DaveRackliff@5_News Two incredibly important topics (and family impact is one that is often left out but is so so important!) Good on her, an amazing and brave thing to do!!
I'll only be in support of awareness weeks when services are funded properly and people have access to the right help when they need it. Encouraging people to reach out when the support isn't there is futile and potentially dangerous.

Being told *as a teenager* that “you will live with your #eatingdisorder for the rest of your life” somehow - miraculously - didn’t help me to recover.
Since when was inverted-self-fulfilling-prophecy an effective part of psychological medicine?
It needs to stop.
@TWSENADVICE@adamfare1996@LucyandYak Perfectly said! And totally get that- a helpful thing for me recovering from my Ed has been only following social media accounts that promote & encourage body love & acceptance at any size or shape & realising that all bodies are beautiful no matter what!
In the 1st hospital I was in, they had us in loooong painful restraints, injecting us with meds but app cutting our nails was against our human rights, go figure
@jamesldowns My first success was reintroducing lattes, as it was one of the first things I cut out, & that then led me to breaking more and more food/drink rules. Still love a latte a day (convenient rhyme)!
@jorothian It wasn't, but it's a great article, thanks for sharing! One of the things that made me write it was (a few yrs back) going to the GP after restoring weight in ed recovery bec was struggling mentally with weight gain & being given a Slimming World leaflet instead of referral!
