Was a great pleasure to recently host @MegBar97 from #UQ and Svenja Roosch from @UniHannover to discuss intriguing data about the soil organic carbon storage in Australian Vertisols and prepare some exciting aggregates from a clay content gradient for upcoming #NanoSIMS@TUMsoil.
I recently returned from a rewarding visit to @tumsoil and @peth_lab, where I gained hands-on experience with NanoSIMS and received a crash course in CT and image analysis. A massive thank you to @GeoSchweizer, Svenja Roosch, and @VincentFelde for this invaluable opportunity! 🙏
Excited to kick off the #SoilPACMAN project in Paris on how soil pores influence soil organic C dynamics and its biogechemical microhabitats. Connecting @TUMsoil and @iEESParis at @Sorbonne_Univ_ & @CNRS. Thanks for support @dfg_public & ANR! Stay tuned for our upcoming results.
Great postdoc position with the fantastic soil biogeochemistry group @Livermore_Lab and @NoahSokol. Exciting topic and an awesome opportunity I can highly recommend applying!
I’m hiring a soil biogeochemistry postdoc @Livermore_Lab to study soil-based strategies for carbon removal in the field, esp. interactions between soil organic C cycling and enhanced weathering. Work with an amazing, collaborative team! Salary: $108K/yr.

@navarro_pedreno @ClaireChenu2 @Thuenen_SOM @JensLeifeld Agree, there would not be much soil organic C without plants. Still, if it weren't for the many interactions with soil components, plant-/biota-derived soil C would be emitted back into the atmosphere relatively quickly. The extent and longevity of these interactions matter 💪
Interesting article about how to define #carbon sequestration in soils and climate change mitigation by Axel Don et al. @Thuenen_SOM @JensLeifeld@ClaireChenu2 and others https://t.co/sIx0wwpg10
Fantastic to have this study published @NatureComms about how calcium promotes the formation mineral-associated soil organic matter by mediating coupled biotic-abiotic mechanisms: https://t.co/pyRMBF2bUR
Congratulations @ItamarShabtai, @JLehmannCornell, @metarolism, and others!
Happy to share our new @NatureComms paper. We show that calcium changes how microbes process plant litter, increasing #soil#carbon persistence. Work by @JLehmannCornell @metarolism@GeoSchweizer

Thanks for the great organization and collaboration, Yahan Hu (@TUMsoil) as well as Martin Werner and Max Zollner (both Professorship Big Geospatial Data Management of @ed_tum)!
Fantastic hosting a #SoilCarbon#Hackathon. Putting together soil-driven and data-driven minds over microscale #NanoSIMS images to improve our understanding of soil carbon storage. Great ideas & engaging discussions, stay tuned for papers from #SoilCarbonHack funded by @BMBF_Bund
Check out the study for more detailed comparisons & discussions of soil aggregate fractionation techniques and their evaluation using AFM, XPS, NanoSIMS, LA-IRMS, SEM-EDS, EPMA, fluorescence microscopy, synchrotron-based XRF & XANES, and µCT. Image: https://t.co/rd1EYl0GM9 (5/5)
New🔥review paper about method developments advancing our understanding of fine soil structures, microaggregates and their functions. Was happy to contribute @MadSoil. Here a summary of various aspects🧵For more details, see #openaccess Amelung, Tang etal. https://t.co/rd1EYl0GM9
Joint efforts are needed to correlate techniques and handle limitations of each. Integration of modeling approaches and upscaling are warranted. Isolation techniques are crucial whereas each structure may differ from its neighbor depending on soil architecture interactions. (4/5)
