Game devs: if you're worried about layoffs, stay connected with the people on your immediate team.
If the worst happens and you're all let go, you already have the foundations of a co-development studio. A group of experiencd engineers, UI/UX specialists, designers, artists, or narrative developers can be incredibly valuable as a small strike team taking on 3-6 month contracts.
Right now, a LOT of studios are hesitant to add full-time headcount, but the work still needs to get done. A proven team that already knows how to work together is a lot more attractive than finding random individuals.
I've even seen small groups successfully return as contractors to the very studios that laid them off. You got nothing to lose by having this as your Plan B. Having a team that has good chemistry, understand modern pipelines and need little onboarding time is more valuable than you might think.
@UTxJGTheDon I just think a lot of people live outside their means. I pay my bills first I got a decent crib, and I buy the games I want to play. I donโt work the best job. I donโt make hella money from twitch but Iโm grateful. Idk Iโm not even that frugal ๐ I just think niggas make excuses.
